Are young people in the US really that poor?
Are young people in the US really that poor?
>make more than 3x the millennial average in my state
>only 24
>23k in CT
no way. even being a bartender pays more than that
Still depressed
I'd guess that's take home or something. It's also from 2014
This is because 2/3 of them make $0.
What's the median cost of living though? these gay maps never show that. Maybe Idaho is the best place to live factoring that in??? Who knows because it isn't shown.
How thr fuck do you get by with 20k, serious question
By living with your parents
As if the salary of millennials have gone up at all in the past five years
The first thing I saw in the moonlight was the placard with its legend in large, block letters: 'I defiled my race.' Above the placard leered the horribly bloated, purplish face of a young woman, her eyes wide open and bulging, her mouth agape. Finally I could make out the thin, vertical line of rope disappearing into the branches above... There are many thousands of hanging female corpses like that in this city tonight, all wearing identical placards around their necks. They are the White women who were married to or living with Blacks, with Jews, or with other non-White males.
what do you do
I made more than 10x last year. But now I'm unemployed. Denied unemployment 3 times. No stimulus checks. I'm hoping oil hits 20 on Monday :^)
I wasn't asking you, you fucking schizo
Jealousy is unbecoming of you, tranny.
m8 you have literally made nothing in either of your posts coherent, you literally just pasted a bunch of bullshit
I'll explain it to you in terms your pea brain can understand. I've grossed over 10 times the median income in 2019. It's not uncommon for people to make that amount, they're not uneducated brainlets like yourself. Faggot
Im an IT Business Analyst
How do you make money when there's no jobs out there?
Imagine getting a degree in something useful like pharmacy or something and then being unable to get a job and then working at the local grocery store. How long can you do that while sticking to a shitty wage?
I doubt wages will go up for millennials. This is the end of civilization.
Maybe full time.
Most people are hired for 35 hours a week do they get no benefits and a lower salary.
But he asked what that a non does, which you did not answer
I'm still in the process of finding a degree, how did you get into that? Is it hard?
Young person in the US checking in. Can confirm the majority of the people my age that I know are a wreck. Next to no financial literacy. Only stocks are given by company. Savings are only enough for 1-2 months rent if they gave savings at all. If they are making any amount of money most of them blow it on dumb shit. Most are paycheck to paycheck though because the majority of us were told to go to college and we will magically have a good paying jobs on the other end. As a result most of us got meme degrees that are little more than wall decoration. When I was in college around 2009 people were working for MLMs just to have a line on their resume.
I was one of the dumbasses who thought a psych degree would be worth my time and I have spent the last almost decade trying to do something worth my time with it. I have since gotten two more certifications and am teaching myself a useful skill outside of college because I no longer get any financial aid. I personally make a bit under 50,000 a year, am renting my parents second house for 500 under market value, putting my partner though (a relatively cheap) private school, and as of about a week ago supporting two other family members who lost their job. Things are fucking tight but I will be just fine. Especially once my partner is out of school assuming the US hasn’t imploded into an anarcho capitalist theocracy.
Everyone else I know give it take 3 or 4 people are fucked though. For reference I live in a big city with lots of wagie jobs
If it makes you feel any better no degree can help anyone these days. Even if you had the most useful degree aside from medicine, CS, then you'd still need a list of internships to get a job at the end and even so you might get rekt because the indians have more internships than you.
No degree was going to save you.
>young person
how old are you
Pajeets forge that shit, many don't even go to university. They just pay some govt official to forge their transcript, and there's no way to verify it
I majored in MIS and got an internship with my college doing helpdesk stuff, got promoted while in school. Then during mysecond to last semester I started sending out application to any IT, Software, Engineering, Sysadmin etc position. Got a lot of interest because of my internship and high grades and picked the job that would pay me the most. I work with a lot of SQL and Excel, the work is interesting but I didnt get my degree out of passion, I knew that IT and Software were big money makers.
>MIS
how many years did it take you and where did you go
Yeah I gave up on the college system halfway through once I realized what a shit show it is. Still graduated, but completely changed how I thought about what I wanted in life. I graduated early enough in the decade where I would have had a chance if I knew how to actually make money that young, but there’s no way I’m going to a university now.
6 years cause I fucked around in my younger years and also worked 30-40 hours a week during college. I dont want to mention exactly where I went but it was a run of the mill state college with an above average business program (MIS is in the business program for most degree programs)
Older 20’s. Still do dumb shit but old enough to know it’s dumb.
Got any advice for some young faggot trying to get a two year degree? I don't need to make big boy dollars just enough to get by. Any degrees or anything that really don't require a lot of shit to know?
Can confirm. Laughed at retarded choices of others while working on a practical degree choice. Now in a dying field with little job security. Also, disproportionate number of foreigners... have to translate a coworker's heavy indian accent into intelligible English on a regular basis
If you arent sure what you want to do you should do community college for that degree, much cheaper. You could also look into trade certifications that the community college would offer, they make good money and dont require more than high school level of education.
If we give more tax cuts to the billionaires and boomers maybe millennial wages will go up right?
I wonder what zoomer wages look like.
This will never get better at this rate.
Can you escape this situation by starting a company? Most entrepreneurs are gen X with experience in business so I don't think so.
Millennials include the ever increasing number of minorities, as well people in there 20s typically don't make a lot of money. As millennials age to their 30s and gain skills their income will increase. This is like being surprised teenagers don't make a lot of money... I am 34 and a millennial but 30s is not the avg age of this group.
>Are young people in the US really that poor?
YES
burger perpetuate the illusion of being a first world country via debt.
Any mutt that disagrees is fuckin delusional
so 70k? good job, but recognize that your parents were probably making way more than that, back when it had double the purchasing power
>2014
At the time, a lot of millennials were still in college and working part-time at Target, if at all.
Why pay for a degree in something you can learn online for free? Obviously poor shit streeters are going to take your jobs.
>millennial sare fucked because x, y, z
is nobody going to mention gen z
No. You show your potential to make money in your 20s. By your 30s it's too late.
No country in the world has good wages for people in their 20s
>mfw I make 81k in Louisiana as a 23 year old
>make more in dividends than the median for my state
nope
Its called payroll taxes btw. the payroll taxes in all 1st world nations (i.e not the US) are high as these taxes include things such as healthcare.
Add in your healthcare costs & you have a lower wage with limited cover.
Want any more rebuttals?
You won't like them, promise
kek, third worlders
They're just all temporarily embarrassed millionaires so actually they are all rich.
You can't. Period. Corporations can't be trusted to pay their employees.
Yes.
As a matter of fact, many young people would kill to get a job that pays like that.
We all live on debt and government handouts user.
Even the so-called heroes of america called the military.
Feels good to make 3x more than average in California. Mechanical engineer here.
That's nice.
Everyone can't be mechanical engineers though.
Also, LOL, california.
There's no way that's the median for my age group. I was making $35K/y and I consider that an absolute failure and waste of my life up until now. I'm currently 26.
Would be making over 50K if I just finished my initial degree path
Jesus Christ, I'm a millennial and I'm pushing 58k and feel poor as fuck. I didn't know the average was so much worse then me.
Depends on where in Idaho, Job opportunities are also lacking so it's probably a wash overall.
Frugality, dad and brother get by on
Biochem major highest paying job was 13 an hour sample management on call so like 4 hours a week no benefits or retirment etc
Current job 11 an hour. More work hours and a bit more relevant to it field.
Going back to school again because college degrees are needed for everything. Was thinking about whole foods for 17 an hour but afraid of virus
I think that's less of an issue compared to what it costs to enter the job market.
For example, in a lot of countries companies will still hire and train you as an apprentice straight out of high school (this includes first world countries in Europe). In the US, sometimes even trade school costs a decent chunk of money.
SQL and Excel. What the fuck im jealous. That's retard shit and here I am with a CCNA and Net+ making 40k. Fuck this gay earth.
College degrees are almost useless for the most part user.
There are no jobs for you after you get out of college.
Only debt and a job market filled with people with more experience and more connections then you.
>business analyst
don't you guys only make like 65k lmao
Based
