forcing yourself to learn programming (or anything) when it's uninteresting is a great way to live a frustrating and resentful life. If you want to find something useful to do with your life that is also gratifying to you try this.

1. Find a small problem you can fix in your life or in the lives of someone you know. Fix the problem.

2. Did you feel satisfied after step 1? If yes, find a similar problem and fix it, and repeat until the answer is no. If the answer is no, go back to step 1.

The reason this works is because you are getting down to the bottom of what money is supposed to represent, which is value which you provide for others. If you learn to provide value for other people by fixing problems, you will have a way of making a living. If you don't care about the value itself and only about how that value manifests itself (as money), you will be chasing the wind.

Besides that, you are implicitly assuming that you have to create something new to become rich. You do not have to create something new to solve a problem for someone. I had a friend who fixed computers for boomers and made tons of money, but he never got rich because he was lazy and wasted his money on drugs. If he had prioritized his business, it would be managing itself by now. He didn't have to be a genious- all he did was found a group of people (boomers) with a problem (can't fix their computers) and solved the problem for them at a premium. He turned basic tech skills into profit.

If you're first question out of high school is "how do I make money", then you're probably some low IQ blue collar loser. The question you should be asking yourself is, "how can I find a career path in which my personal interests and abilities will be advantageous". There are all sorts of different things you might consider. There's not just a single one-size-fits-all answer. Some people are suited marketing/management type stuff, some people to law, some people to STEM fields, etc. Of course you should pursue a practical and economically sensible career path, but there isn't just one single solution based on the "most lucrative" career path.

If you don't have any actual interests and aren't good at anything, you'll probably just end up being poor your whole life, which is what you deserve. For instance, I am 24 and I have a decent amount of financial successful despite having to take out massive student loans and not having any parental support since my dad was dead, and my mom was not in the picture anymore. I went to college for math (something I was actually interested in), I was good at it, I liked it, and now I own my own house (fully paid off) after graduating at 21 and I already have over $30k in savings. I'm not where I want to be yet educationally or financially, but I'm getting there, and I'm already way ahead of most people, let alone most 24 years olds, and that's because I studied something that was practical, that I was good at, and that I was interested in.
