I have a well diversified portfolio and i make about £5k a month with my business tax free. im worth about £200k atm all things included. That's probably reasonable. I make $180,000/yr @ 30 but that's not even a little bit rich after taxes and 401k and all that shit, especially living in the cuck northeast.

That's the trap. We think of "richness" as our incomes when in reality it's net worth. The money you have is the real freedom, not your hypothetical earnings - expenses (which pile up thanks to CoL and lifestyle inflation). Really hard to get to that first $100k and then $1m... after that you're on the road to early retirement.

In the northeast you need at least double what you'd need in Texas. My 401k is $140,000 with a separate $70,000 in dividend stocks, 0 debt and about $40,000 in the bank but it still feels like working until 65 is necessary to be comfortable.
