And the third option it is. Every participant on the network needs to sync their node before validation. Around 90% of participants keep their node synced at all times. So everyone is storing this data in their nodes. The point with CP is interesting. Morality aside (since this shit happens on the internet and it’s not me who uploaded it) I assume since this data is encrypted there is no real chance to get in trouble if you run your node on your PC and even less if you run it remotely on a VPS.

Just to clarify there was no case of CP, there was one case of porn in a flip though. The guy who did this probably got his identity killed through the flip quality consensus.

Flip data is stored on IPFS. Flips are (mostly) encrypted so only their creator and the solvers get to see them in full.

Not to validate. You could potentially spread it to all nodes as an encrypted flip but less than 10 people would actually see it on their screens.

Depends what system you’re on. There is a tutorial at Rioda.org/idena, it’s not a breeze but if you’ve ever done stuff like cracking games you should manage. If you get stuck ask on discord in mining channel. I swapped to VPS a couple days ago and IMO it’s worth the effort. If you use the link in tutorial you get 1 month free but still it plays itself off in 2 days of mining

Most questions you have asked are answered either on the FAQ or the Pitch deck. Skim the first and then dive into the latter if you’re still interested. Its fairly easy to digest.

As stated above time limitations in short session. ATM it’s not impossible to run 2 accounts and there are people who do that. Keep in mind that it’s still testnet. The devs are increasingly incentivizing having high score on solving flips to counter that and in the future it will probably be ever harder and less profitable to run more than 1 account.

You can do both. Mining earns free DNA and all you have to do is keep your computer on, it’s not hardware intensive, but if your PC turns off for more than an hour you get penalized and have to mine burned coins. But just doing the normal validation process will also earn you coins (by solving flips and making flips). Mining is the way to go though, if you have a stable internet connection and a PC you can keep on, or a VPS

Mining is half the total allocated rewards, but you don't have to do it. Also FAQ, for the love of god.

There are people on discord who help out with this. If Idena moons there's still one thing I won't be able to buy: patience like theirs.

I didn't read it yet, I just noticed it mentions using linux at the top. Also you'll notice I said "learn ABOUT linux", as in some basic info, not how to grasp the ins and outs of it like an expert.

you can buy DNA on qtrade , I'm pretty sure you don't need the invitation to transfer funds in and out of the node's built in wallet, either. The invite allows you to mine and get rewarded for making and solving flips. In other words you can get some free DNA if you get an invite and pass validation, but you can buy without any special permission, like any other crypto.
