Why are paintings worth so much?

If I make some streaks on a canvas will it be worth a few millions?
Is something wrong with me? Why can't I see the value in that blue streak on dark blue streak?

Money laundering

money laundering

Redpill: Artist got 200$ from this deal.

store of value

Jewish dominated , money laundering, fraud, nepotism, jewy to its core

What? How?

That cobalt blue with a pale shade of white in a perfectly formed line down the middle is absolutely brilliant. Astounding piece, only incredibly high IQ people understand art.

Those buzzwords aren't explaining it.

Auctions are anonymous with multiple layers of middle men and brokers.

>money laundering
1. have illegal money
2. buy painting with it
3. ???
4. ??????????????????????

are you stupid? a beard pays dirty cash for the painting and the "seller" declares proceeds on their taxes making the money legitimate in the eyes of the government

>3. ???
let painting sit in museum
>4. ??????????????????????
indefinite tax write off at purchase price and invited to every high society event forever

That money still comes from somewhere suspicious so you're not making sense.

>Be Jewish
>Have $43 mil of illegal money
>Buy painting from jewish art expert friend for $43 mil cash
(Art store / expert doesn't have to report where the money came from. Its just a cash sale)
>Sell back the painting to your jewish art expert, now collector, friend for $30 mil
>He credits your bank account with legal money, and keeps $13 mil commission.
Now you have legal money, minus the cost of jewery.

It’s not so much the skill, but more so the artist’s reputation, the painting’s cultural impact, and what the painting means to the aesthetic movement it belongs to. I’m not saying people should be paying fucktons of money for it, but they do.

Artist gets worse through jewish nepotism in art circles, media, etc. Painting costs 100 Dollar, Artist gets artificially propped up, painting costs now 100.000.000 Dollar, yet its worth nothing inherently. Now imagine how you could profit in this Clown world scenarios with your taxes, credits, loans etc.etc.
Google Panama papers

It’s the currency of the ultra rich. Instead of dollars which our taxes they “buy” and “sell” paintings.

wew

Art is like fiat currency

Paint a bunch of pieces of paper green and claim they're worth as much as a house

this, it's like boomer bitcoin
it's just some easy to transfer pice of shit that two or more parties decided to be worth X amount of USD
it can be used to give someone X million in cash without sending him a car trailer full of cash
you can even put it in a backpack and fly it to some other continent
beside that it can also be used for tax fuckery

You're actually a fucking retard

Hey everyone, look at this naive surface level moron

it's for money laundering and tax purposes. especially when it comes to charitable donations. very sophisticated accounting.

You got me!

Shipping art allows certain regulatory checks to be bypassed for things like trafficking humans and drugs. Like the other user said, money laundering as well.

in my books any painter that cannot paint a good portrait is not allowed to make "modern art"
I will let true painter get away with painting garbage as long as they have already proven themselves to be masters at the art
only then might "modern art"contribute anything.

also

We should make you the Grand Arbiter of the Arts

My biggest worry with buying this type of shit would be getting laughed at when I go to sell it with some expectation of ROI.

When you're looking at a painting sold at Sothebys, what's being sold isn't the physical paint. Its the particular history of the object and the social community that has engaged and continues to engage with it. Art becomes valuable when there's a community of wealthy individuals who all collectively recognize the value of the work. This happens through an informal process of relationships between art writers, art schools, art collectors, art dealers, and other art world actors. You simply cannot enter this world as an artist without preexisting connections to these actors. Generally there's 2 main routes. 1, be born into a family in the art world. 2, work for a dealer/gallery and climb your way up, which is almost impossible do to competition. 3, go to art school and get art writers to promote your work, almost impossible to do due to competition.

A better route to becoming an artist is to find a community you are already connected to that is looking for art that suites its needs that is not the art world. However with these you won't be able to just swipe at a canvas. You will need some technical skill that is appreciated by that particular community.

Yes art is used for money laundering, but in order for it to be used as such it has to be recognized as valuable by art appraisers which brings us back to the art world social network.

(((why)))

that picture didn't age well

This is why failing at becoming an artist drove hitler to kill everyone who held him back

Money laundering:
m.youtube.com/watch?v=zWZaMoJ75kc

Anyone got a link to the email for that line?

This.
This

>retarded "artist" makes stripes on canvas
>"art connaisseur" gets money to say that art is worth millions
>rich fuck who has "art connaisseur" in pocket buys painting for millions with dirty money
>"artist" gets famous
>paints more retarded stripes
>more rich people with dirty money buy his paintings
>media start advertising that "art"
>paintings increase in value
>everyone in the "art world" gets happy, from the retard to the art connaisseur to the auctioneer who gets a commission to the money launderer
>still get to promote moral degeneracy through "art subjectivism"

Then you need to lurk more. When somebody simply says kikes, you should know what they mean.

When a seller deposits a huge sum of money, they just check that the seller actually sold something (and that they aren't selling something illegal).

They never check where the buyer's money came from. (more on this later though)**

A closer friend of mine is a real estate agent, he says lots of rich people pay cash for houses using cashier's checks. The bank just asks what the deposit is for, and providing them a notarized deed of sale is enough.

Nobody ever pries further than that, asking where the money came from is a rabbit hole. So this is why drug lords have lots of houses etc.

---

**I said "more on the later earlier... this is the case for most assets (real estate, PM), but this isn't the case with crypto. Most exchanges actually want to know your source of income before selling you crypto. They are actually more strict with selling crypto than most real world assets.

I missed this post Basically what they said

Makes sense.

>be rich, friends with rich art appraiser buddies
>have guy draw line on canvas, pay buddies to appraise the value at $10 mil
>donate "$10 mil" painting to museum
>write off $10mil donation

/thread

It works due to how the money is legally labeled and filed down the chain.
Because the initial transaction doesnt require knowledge of where the money came from, you go through the buying and selling back, now when you need to explain your money on taxes you can legally say "sold art piece worth XXX" and this is all that's necessary. This is for income reporting purposes, your buying, selling, and private hand to hand money acquisition isnt automatically tracked so that if anything fishy happens at any point in the chain it sets off the magic alarm bells. You just need to make everything look fine on paper once a year.

Dont get into this unless you already have rich jew friends who are into it
You dont start dealing in this from the outside on your own

its like asking why are classic novels classic?

This thread is full of brainlets.
To answer your question, it's for avoiding taxes.
Buy at low price, get reappraised to high value, donate to somewhere, get big tax credits.

I already knew that but I didn't know what money laundering they were talking about. But I know now

Where do you post? Twitter? I want to subscribe to your newsletter

the simple answer - like all art, is that they are unique. there is only one so if 20 people want it and those 20 people are rich it will drive the price up to ridiculous prices... i.e., law of supply and demand (I can't believe I am explaining this on a fucking biz board.)

However, because ridiculous prices and anonymous buyers are the norm in the art market, this is a perfect way to, you guessed it... launder money.

fucking idiot. GET OFF Yas Forums

I like this painting, thanks OP

You're missing the bigger picture. The artist created 6 variations of this painting called Onement. What happens when you put six of them together?

this goy gets it
(((Currency))) laundering

Any Yas Forumslords want to start a modern art money laundering campaign?

Maybe we could figure out how to hide our crypto gains from the IRS by trading in modern "meme" artworks. Imagine a 20' by 20' modern art pepe hanging in a real museum.

There are more of these than I thought.

This is the excuse elites use to explain all the money from buying and selling child sex slaves. It's like how in states where pot is legal but there's no licensed recreational dispensaries yet, there's stores where you can pay 60 bucks for a cookie and then your new buddy just happens to hand you an ounce. The painting is not what they're paying millions for.

No, you brainlet. It's literally just money laundering.
Anyone who has enough brain to afford a $40 million painting knows it's trash.
That's why these shitty painting change hands so often, while the old masters are literally impossible to find on sale.
