If we implemented universal healthcare and suddenly we were able to treat all of them, it would in no way overwhelm our hospitals. It wouldn't be on the same scale as the covid-19 situation, not even close. (And most of the people who slip through the cracks do end up in the hospital eventually, even if it's just to die there. Not being able to afford prompt, regular and high-quality treatment does not mean they're completely cut off from the healthcare system. It just means when they find their way into a hospital, it's usually too late.)

Hospitals are triaging and treating only the sickest / requiring treatment are admitted and treated.
If you're not critically ill, you're told to go home and isolate, no test administered, and only go to the hospital if you feel like you're dying.

Let's say you think it's a 2% mortality rate. Then for every one death not counted, you need 50 infections+recoveries not counted (100 if you think it's 1%, etc.).

Why would deaths go unreported? Cases go unreported because people contract it with either no symptoms or extremely mild ones, and don't bother seeing a doctor, so the system never even tests them.

Lots of countries are interested in not labeling deaths as coronavirus. Even in Italy, they have a big uptick in pneumonia deaths (not counted as covid-19) compared to one year ago. And countries like germany are doing limited testing with no post mortem testing.
