I didn't say he called the virus itself a hoax. His extremely obvious fucking implication was that the democrats, in treating coronavirus like a real and credible threat, were perpetrating a hoax for political gain. Guess what? They were correct about corona, and Trump, with his MULTITUDE of comments downplaying corona, was painfully wrong.

This was absolutely not a situation that nobody could have foreseen or handled better. Trump's fucking democrat predecessor had multiple safeguards against pandemics that Trump either dismantled or ignored. He eliminated a key CDC position in China whose job was to watch for emerging pandemics; he, in effect, dismantled the pandemic response team established by Obama after Ebola; he ignored the NSC pandemic playbook written by the Obama admin which specified, among other things, that the federal government should ensure there's an adequate supply of PPEs, which there's now a dangerous shortage of. Perhaps most critically, he utterly botched testing, allowing Corona's spread in the US to go mostly undetected.

Add that to his muddled messaging, his constant flip-flopping, his over-promised under-baked plans, his constant petty spats with governors and reporters asking him to clarify things he himself said. His accusing nurses of stealing masks en masse, his refusal to allow oversight of the $500b bailout fund, his statement that the US should reopen so there could be "packed churches" all over the country for easter... the man is an absolute fucking moron, and his response has been a goddamn clown show.
