Today I overheard my normie coworkers talk about how nobody has computers anymore because they are old technology and the flu is making everybody get one now for school. Is this a massive sell signal?

Damn that's a sweet build
Unironically a guy I know that’s a retarded dropout meth dealer says the same thing “everybody’s just gonna use their phones lol”
My sister has two kids that are high school aged and they haven't owned a computer since like 2014. They all just indeed use their phones and tablets. For games they just go on a PS4 or Switch or something.
Most people have a laptop at least, but for the average person they dont need a computer, everything is possible on their phone/tablet and you cant use apps like snapchat on your pc
the pleb class can get by with a tablet or phone, but anyone who wants to build anything needs a computer
>nobody has computers anymore because they are old technology
wait wait wait, WHAT?
yes, sell your computer
I mean yeah when you think about it, laptops and especially desktops, who the hell sits at a desk like it's the 1800s and they're writing on parchment paper with a quill and ink well. Why carry around a giant laptop when a phone fits in your pocket
When boomers say computer, they mean desktop pc
because with a laptop you can do things that you can't do with a phone, and this is what normies have to keep believing, in order to allow technology to go on
People with white collar jobs.
It's so sad. I've been able to save a couple of my zoomie cousins through leading by example but I've got more than a few who think they can get by in life entirely through iphone, even for vidya.
Only nerds use desktop PC's, most people use laptops
laptops are pretty shit as well, I mean the whole point is that they were portable-sized computers in the 90s and 2000s, especially in comparison to their 35 lbs desktop counterparts - but a phone is the epitome of portable-sized technology and it does everything a laptop does in terms of practical use
So you don't own at least 1 giant desktop and 2-3 laptops? Who are you?
A normie doesnt need a 3000 rig with a 3080 TI when all they do is snapchat and instagram and game on a console
a 200 chromebook is enough for their youtube and word documents
Yeah, lemme just type up my 2000 word essay on my phone and cite all my sources.
Plz stalph user, even if this is a pantomime of zoomer conception of technology. There are no phones with 32gb of ram or effective ports for multiple external hard drives.
>it does everything a laptop does in terms of practical use
Can't run linux. Can't develop shit
You easily can though
I own a computer but I'm 35 years old and it's what we grew up on.
16 year old normies don't really give a shit about computers unless they're Reddit STEM fags or future Yas Forums incels or something. They have Netflix and NBA vieo games on their XBox, youtube and spotify on their phone, etc.
Yes i know, but you will agree with me that this is disgusting.
practical use for the average normie, no normie is running Linux Bitcoin farms or whatever you STEM people do with your 5000$ computers.
>Yes i know, but you will agree with me that this is disgusting.
No I think it's fine. People made the jump from typewriters & TV to the deskstop/laptop computer and now they're making the transition towards tablets & phone.
How? There's so much basic life shit you can't do with a phone at all. Like how do you write and format a CV or a document, or an email with more than 2 sentences in it? Hell, I can't even trust my phone to buy a plane ticket or do anything finance related because of how broken and unnavigable mobile versions of websites are.
Desktop is the ultimate comfy/efficiency setup for anyone doing anything productive with a computer. You just can't physically do anything worthwhile for longer than an hour hunched over some coffee table or lying on the sofa.
rofl at all these retards exposing their low level of education and/or intelligence.
They have? I thought most people still own a laptop or computer for writing documents and stuff
> Like how do you write and format a CV or a document, or an email with more than 2 sentences in it?
You write and format it actually as easily as anything else, sounds like the problem is you not the phone. Like 80 years olds trying to use windows 95 and being like I MADE A MISTAKE IN THE SPELLING, HOW DO I PUT IN A NEW SHEET OF PAPER INTO THE COMPUTER SCREEN AND WHICH THING IS THE MOUSE AGAIN
>Desktop is the ultimate comfy
I stopped reading there. You know how many afflictions come from sitting at a desk all day long?
they do, the other anons just being retarded. virtually everyone who writes anything >300 words does it on a laptop or computer
LAPTOP FAGS IN THIS THREAD HAHAHHA
U OVERHEATING BOYS?
signed : desktop master race
I'm sure most still own a computer here and there, but I don't doubt for a second that it's mostly just there as a vestigial sentimental thing.
>let me see your resume
>sperg hands me his phone
next
I sense a normie shoah incoming.
You can print from a phone, grandpa.
not during an interview, dipshit
>IT EZ TRUST ME
>doesn't actually answer the question
>You know how many afflictions come from sitting at a desk all day long?
Still relatively the best pose you can assume while working with a computer. Maybe only exception is a standing desk, which still requires, you know... a desktop. I wanna see you write code or a dissertation on your shitty phone faggot.
Kill yourself, age traitor
Go suck a 19 year old's tiktok watching dick
No, they're not buying in for your gpu upgrades
Not on that 6"x3" screen youre not
>He doesn't read a paper
>while he listens to his fav music without ads
>while he compares it with two books, 3 papers and news
>while he reads 4ch
>while he checks the market
>while he learns another shit
>while he prepares a New dumb meme in paint
>while he talks with friends in his normiephone
Yikes
buyer's remorse you guys?
NORMIES GET OFF MY FUCKING BOARD
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
fuck no, if i could i would buy even more desktops
A powerful PC is unironically one of the best investments you can make in life.
I have a decent laptop and I am looking to build a desktop, so I know there's dozens of things that one can't do on a simple tablet or a phone.
I also get it that the average normie only uses a computer as a youtube/facebook machine, so of course for them a phone is the same but more convenient.
I will own a desktop for as long as I can. Unbeatable.
I work from home since 2016
Company gave me a little 15'' laptop.
Ever since I built a desktop my efficiency grew enabling me to have more free time.
I latter purchased a secondary vertical screen and my efficiency grew another 50%.
Also, ergonomic desk, gaming chair, etc..
It's like arguing about the point of buying a BMW 5-series over a toyota corolla. People are retarded.
Normies being normies.
Even worse when it's the bosses having that mentality.
BTW, I connect remotely to another desktop at my desk at the company office that is in another country, I also got them to upgrade that desktop too.
you guys are missing the point.
Samsung has Dex which allows you to plug your phone into a docking station like you would a laptop.
Dex is a game changer, because it allows people with good phones to pull up presentations and excel sheets and other basic shit, expect laptop and tablets to disappear and only desktops and phones to remain
You can do document editing on a phone it's just a pain in the ass in my view.
I thought you had to be 18 to post here.
Or maybe prepare a document with more than 240 characters.
>I own a computer but I'm 35 years old and it's what we grew up on.
We also have a little bit more to do with a computer when we're 35 than check Insta and play Vidya.
People have been hyping this kind of shit since the early days of the iPhone. The thing is until smartphones are capable of running an actual computer OS compatible with actual PC applications and not some Android/iOS BS with babby handicapped Apps, phones and tablets have absolutely no chance in replacing traditional PCs where it matters.
>Desktop is the ultimate comfy/efficiency setup for anyone doing anything productive with a computer. You just can't physically do anything worthwhile for longer than an hour hunched over some coffee table or lying on the sofa.
Correct. It is impossible to sit with ergonomic posture and use a laptop. You're either setting yourself up for a pinched nerve in the neck, or carpal tunnel in the wrists.
A laptop is a temporary portable device for people who might actually need their computer in the field. It's a travel accesssory for your desktop.
>has clearly never had a job
dude i got a samsung galaxy 9, its easily better then most tablets. when i plug it in to my desktop, and its like opening a virtual machine, and it recognizes my mouse and keyboard and only one monitor, but its new tech. it'll only get better
No boss, I'm good. Give that ancient desktop to the old lady over there. I'll just tap out the TPS reports on my phone with my thumbs while I'm kicked back in a bean bag chair with my wireless earbuds if you don't mind. Thanks.
He's never had a job, user. You're arguing wtih a 15yr old that thinks he can tap TPS reports with his thumbs.
>It's like arguing about the point of buying a BMW 5-series over a toyota corolla. People are retarded.
Like arguing with someone who lives in an apartment why anyone would need to own a lawn mower.
>expect laptop and tablets to disappear and only desktops and phones to remain
Yep. It's the laptop and tablet that will be replaced by the phone.
At some point I could see having the monitors and keyboards for a desktop, and the chip is in your phone. Computer only works while the phone is in range or some shit.
No, they're obsolete unless you're a boomercuck.
Computers are old technology? Who are those people and how are they capable of getting dressed in the morning?
Desktop is better for gaming and heavy tasks such as rendering, multitasking and data analysis.
Laptop for simplicity and mobility.
Laptops are more expensive spec vs spec.
Desktop offer more powerful solutions that a laptop cannot offer.
Chads use powerful desktops.
Normies use laptops
Poor people use normal desktops.

Docking a phone is not new tech
We are entering a new Paradigm.
We need a new Computer.
Hopefully it’s Urbit.
phsyical keyboard is a very nice input device
You cunts realize that shit your discussing are all computers right?
>Computer
an electronic device for storing and processing data, typically in binary form, according to instructions given to it in a variable program
No, we're discussing desktop PC's. Try to keep up, buddy
maybe i'm just old i was blown away, when i could play my phones total war game on my montior and keyboard. i think its finally practical
He is right, only enthusiasts have computers now, just like it was in the beginning.
I don't even mind.
He's not making this up, I live infront of a student housing condo thing, out of all of them 1 person has a laptop, all of them use their phones for internet or tablets
That is what it means, a phone is a phone.
>Trolling outside of Yas Forums
Moooooooooods
Laptop ownership above 50% for age range 16-24: statista.com
>all of them use their phones for internet or tablets
8 core pc with 3 screens and productivity doing anything is massively higher than a laptop or phone or even the same pc with 1 screen. These people are fucking retards.
Technically all those things are PC's and I'm not your buddy fren.
My point is that those are still computers. I'm not surprised, normies don't need much more. Anyone white workers will almost always and for the foreseeable future need a laptop and netwrok storage.
anything comp sci a PC for better productivity. Looking at the history of the tech it has always been for enthusiasts. Except for the two decades when cookie cutter builds were mass produced for office work. The era of the test bench need is back.
White collar, Chinese phone is more racist than I am.
