The issue is that the coronavirus is highly contagious and has a long incubation period before symptoms show. This leads to lots of potential carriers that can spread the virus around quickly to these compromised populations, which can easily lead to an overburdening of the healthcare systems across the states as many hospitals aren't sure they're going to have enough ventilators for everyone they expect will need them. That's the entire reason they're wanting people the self-quarantine and avoid large crowds, to keep the total amount of cases lower over a longer period of time. It's like you have no idea why these measures were put into place in the first place
