Why the fuck is anyone investing right now? Besides faggots that are literally doing it because it's low (which is called gambling, not investing).
The biggest and most influential economy in the world right now is shut down. Not the stock market, which is also fucked, but the ACTUAL economy. I live in Los Angeles and everything is shut down besides super markets. No one is buying anything or doing anything. Same in NYC, Philly, Chicago, and soon to be every major city in the US.
People who are shorting will get BTFO by sudden news that "we found the cure!"
And people who are longing will get BTFO by a fear mongering piece that's released by MSM anytime they choose. It's all gambling.
But who is putting money in now? This quarantine could last up to 6 months, and it's not even guaranteed to work. This won't "kill off" corona virus, and the second we go back to normal life it'll sweep through the population again.
boomers do bullshit like dollar cost averaging and firmly believe their stupid rules will work in an uncertain future
Tyler Perez
>muh boomers Cope, child.
Colton Hill
Nope. Fuck you. I am not selling
Andrew Cook
Goddamn I'd long my penis into her vagina and short her virginity.
Jace King
Literally NGMI
Jayden Russell
Personally I have a 30-year time horizon so I've been accumulating stocks with really solid dividends for DRIP purposes. Of course the dividends might be scaled back or cut entirely in the short term, but it's like using a 70% off coupon and even if the market goes down another 25%, it's still getting them at prices from 6 years ago.
Colton Allen
>This won't "kill off" corona virus you're right about that - so why the hell are we doing this? This is a part of life now. There will be new mutations next year and so on
Easton Morales
>People who are shorting will get BTFO by sudden news that "we found the cure!" that's why i'm shorting. that's not going to happen tomorrow.
Christopher Lewis
Walmart
David Phillips
I’m shorting like a mother fucker. Even if they find a cure it will be a year before it’s in mass production. We have at least another 1-2 months of downward/crab movement before this is over.
Thomas Jackson
Try and stop me from accumulating.
Jack Brown
yeah, unless you see giant megacorps fall apart it seems like if you make long-term investments in relatively safe brand stocks you're almost guaranteed to come out well ahead whenever markets eventually go up
Joshua Cooper
The vaccine is less than 2 years off, treatment could come sooner. Mass hysteria never lasts more than a few months, fear gets old, and the market is panicked right now. rebound comes when people get bored of covid, bonus points when covid is gone. Its like your asking why people bought stocks in 2009
Isaac Miller
I'm looking at some of the entertainment ones that aren't too bloated with debt. PLAY (dave and busters) is down like 90% at the moment
Caleb Anderson
Look how everyone thinks you're a shill for asking a valid question. I personally sold as soon as I heard the first news about the Chinese lockdown. It seemed obvious that markets would tank after some lag.
Instead of just calling him names, why don't you guys try and answer his question. Why the fuck is anyone investing right now?
Camden Foster
>buying low is gambling >real investors buy high
Ethan Rogers
Its not much of a gamble to assume most of these stocks in companies with a good track record are going to survive this and gain a lot of value, since it has happened multiple times already. My logic is I have a lot of time so im investing a little and it can grow a lot. If this is truly the happening then none of this shit is gonna matter and I have extra money for ammo anyway.
Cooper Reyes
>buying cheap stocks is gambling
The dividend yields are literally better than bonds at this point in companies that have raised them 20-50 years in a row. If you buy and hold it’s literally free money. If you DCA it’s literally even more free money
Austin Mitchell
What guarantee do we have that we don't just get stuck on a 30 year bear market? Or 10 years? I can think of multiple other ways to invest money over 10 years than the stock market if it keeps falling.
Leo Ward
Yup. I haven't dabbled in any of the oil/travel stuff but I picked up some real estate (EPR) and prudential. EPR is already down to $19 from when I got it at $26 but I'm not bothered because the dividend has been great for a very long time and it's been trading over $60 for over 5 years now. Can't beat yourself up over not timing things exactly right.
>(which is called gambling, not investing) Shorting actually provides liquidity to the market so it is part of the overall 'investment' mechanism you brainlet.
Carson Nguyen
>Besides faggots that are literally doing it because it's low (which is called gambling, not investing).
Right, but it's not like stocks will make a massive recovery once people actually get the cure, just the announcement that they are close a cure will cause such a massive green dildo that all shorters will die from it's anal penetration.
That could come within weeks, even days.
"CHINA RUNS HUMAN TRIALS ON CURE" etc
Jason Jenkins
I'm doing the same thing, user. Smart moves.
Cooper Perez
Yeah just like the american economy is guaranteed to come ahead with its demographic shift and 1 trillion USD deficit lmao
the western world has been collapsing for a long time and this virus is the catalyst
Bentley Scott
This assumes everybody makes all their money daytrading. I wonder how many on this board ACTUALLY are.
Jackson Lopez
investing in brapcoin is always a good idea at anytime.
Samuel Bell
If the big cities collapse and we become free of the leftist rot, the economy will shoot up, dow easily hitting 150k-200k within 2 years. Simple economics you filthy californian prog
What should I buy right now? I'm new to investing and have money to spend finally.
Connor Powell
Everything.
Evan Nguyen
Oil, cruise liners, air lines, and some other entertainment shit like PLAY or casino stocks are all historically low. Theres still a risk they drop further as this quarantine shit could last longer. Oil probably wont drop any more. Everything in general is cheap.
Ian Hill
I'm supposed to the stocks or options for the stocks?
Jack Ward
i have nothing to lose and am hoping for a big win. in the long run i think a crash would be better for everyone, so thats what im betting on
Xavier Watson
Falling knife.
I expect at some point a 22% drop.
Eli Davis
If you're new to investing play around with bitcoin first
William Cruz
Thank you, all sound reasonable given the times. Be safe.
Jason Bailey
definitely a falling knife. Vegas is closing down, even disney land is closed
Every time I've come to this board in the last 3 years it's been nothing but crypto. Now all of the sudden everyone wants to discuss big boy stocks. I welcome the change but I'm sure a lot of it is LARPing.
Wyatt Murphy
>we found the cure! How will that fix the last few months? The economy has already been hit, a cure won't heal that.
Jonathan Baker
They're pumping it just enough so they can all get out. Good luck whoever gets left holding
Kevin Peterson
Options have been a hot thing for a while.
Christian Ramirez
>It's all gambling. Yes, you fucking autist, investing carries risk along with reward. It's literally baked into the fucking price of the underlying securities. If investing didn't have any risk of failure, literally everyone would do it.
Stop being a salty cunt because your 401k shrunk this week.
Luke Thomas
>And people who are longing will get BTFO by a fear mongering piece that's released by MSM anytime they choose. It's all gambling because they are buying value stocks that will go up when coronavirus blows over in a year
they arent gambling on margin longs
if you were actually of age of majority during 2008-2009 you would know why people are buying when everyone else is fearful, but ur prolly an underage zoomer
>Besides faggots that are literally doing it because it's low (which is called gambling, not investing).
You just answered your own question. We like to fool ourselves into thinking we are investing and making a smart, low risk decision. But it is no different than walking into a casino and walking up to the roulette table and placing $3000 on number 24 simply because the group of guys outside with aspergers were shouting over and over that the number 24 was going to come up. And by god I believe them.
Difference is we just do it from our basements and yell at each other on the internet.
Because it is cheaper then it will be eventually, stupid Ming who thinks he is such genius for selling. Grow some balls and expierience, chicken
Sebastian Peterson
how many linkies for the one on the right?
Isaac Young
Except the stock market isn't completely random like roulette. Also, you put money in the market now and either it goes up and you make a ton, or the economy collapses and your money doesn't have any value. It's not a gamble, the only losing move is to not play
Easton Torres
Fuck, that looks like a great buy. Should I sink money into PLAY or buy more LINK? I've already got 5k link but was planning on getting more.
helped my ex pay rent last month and he's paying me back so I'm just putting that money into stocks because I don't need it and I really don't think America is going to have a dramatic reshifting of power
Evan Hernandez
Remdesivir could have good results announced in April.
Austin Morris
>why is anyone gambling right now? I take it you’ve never heard of a casino user?
