Ok Yas Forums, let's test your creativity. Try to come up with a gimmick for a slasher that has never been used before. Bonus if it could actually be made into a successful movie.

Alright here’s one. Less slasher more horror. Basically there’s an archeological dig that uncovers a seal. A small piece comes off and the group starts hallucinating with the weakest mentally being picked off one by one by a voice by killing each other and going crazy. We find out it’s some sort of demon/parasite sealed under the earth. The main character mostly unaffected believes it’s because of his past trauma keeping him more mentally intact. However after one of the members lifts the seal completely it’s revealed that the demon was saving the MC on purpose to possess him because of his mental fortitude.
Slasher but he can only kill if you attack him, the slasher will follow relentlessly and may even harm but will never kill unless attacked. Usually when harmed the slasher will take something closest to that person, an example being a pianist having their fingers removed.
A texas chainsaw / hills have eyes style middle of nowhere slasher, the victims a mix of travelers and locals being hunted down by stylized drones and boston dynamics style robots- absolutely no bombs or guns however. Stuff like a strong quadcopter lynching a guy and taking him away, or a quad walker with a bolt driver pinning people to walls, and a single humanoid one that acts as the "face", not attacking others but relaying information or taunting the victims. It stays around the group, and faces a lot of retribution over time as bodies pile up.
The drones would have an iconic sound to them, perhaps an electronic chittering or something to denote they're around or getting closer. Really play up the pristine technology vs rustic people angle, then mix it up in the final third with the drones showing wear and tear, acting a bit more animalistic and emotional as they get closer to revealing the man behind it all.
Rather than a single night slasher, it'd be more of a My Bloody Valentine sort of mystery taking place over several days, as the groups try to understand who is attacking them and why, and distrust looming between tourists and locals. There would be a master controller to it, it's not just rampaging robots.
You could easily shoehorn in a strange and contrived twist reveal into the movie, like the guy who was hung and carried away (who also was an engineer and seemed suspicious) is actually alive and the guy behind it all, or alternatively the humanoid bot is a big larger, enough for the guy to hide in - he was with them the whole time.
Man sets out and slaughters a group of unsuspecting campers.
Only they are the children of a group of high-ranking politicians/billionaires. Basically the reveal is that they are the children of the worst people in the world. He is bent on starting a revolution and his aim is to kick-start it with the deaths of people that are very important to very important people.
It could be a social commentary. It could make the viewer look deep down and consider whether or not the innocence of the victims is enough to justify NOT punishing the 'true' villains.
Or whatever you want to make it about.
They just need to attempt to create a good Jack the Ripper movie.
The main character is a man whose girlfriend is slowly radicalized by social media into the Blue Haired Slasher who goes on a "woke" killing spree with the boyfriend at the end of the hit list.
i've only read half the comic and i don't know if the films shit because i haven't seen it, heard it was though. if they kept the freemason/occult stuff like the london pentagram it could be pretty spooky
A slasher who only targets women with gigantic asses. Lots of POV shots staring at big asses.
this but with feet
watched the movie as a kid. i thought it was shit back then - so it must be terrible.
an inspiration/remake of London After Midnight would be nice as well.
Slasherism is recognized as a disability, and normal people volunteer to be mock-hunted by slashers with the expectation that they will be rescued before death. Protagonist is a bureaucrat who uses his position to arrange meetings with volunteers and kills them himself.
>A group of animals at the watering hole discover one of their number hacked to death
>The killer is some sort of creepy two legged ape that WILL NOT stop pursuing them
>They try everything from camouflage to masking odor to bluffing to hiding to running but the ape is implacable
>Final animal is dragged into a cave illuminated by the eerie light of the “red grass” while seeing a menagerie of animal paintings that seem to shriek in agony from beyond the grave
supernatural slasher about a shapeshifter who after killing his victim assumes their identity for a short period to confuse any potential investigators
they already made that. youtube.com
Somehow the filmmakers were totally illiterate and portrayed their film's "bad guy" as an action hero
Nice
Brevik: the motion picture
I'm here for it.
Taking Lives (2004) but with a supernatural bent
The guy has a rake and wears the face of the last victim he killed
Jack the Ripper has too much cultural mythology surrounding it.
He was a Freemason, he was the lost heir to the throne of England, he was a Jew, he was a doctor, he was multiple men working for an evil mastermind, he was actually a she, he was a vampire, he was a time traveler, he was a satanist, he was the head of the police, etc.
A straight adaptation of some 19th century slags getting savaged would be relatively boring.
I mean maybe you could throw in some social commentary about the state of poor women in Victorian London (you could buy a 13 year old sex slave for only 5 pounds, and raping a woman of good social standing would ruin her reputation so much that she’d be forced to be your prostitute which was a tactic many pimps used) but meh.
Masked slasher flick told in three vignettes. Slasher only tortures and kills the families of his female victims while they helplessly watch. Then he rapes them and slashes up their faces, and says “see you again”. The final scene is what ties the movie together; the survivors are in a psych hospital group therapy session telling their stories to each other. The doctor is the killer. Then who was phone?
In ancient japan, samurai would test the sharpness of new blades on unfortunate peasants
This story follows the fight for survival of four young friends on a lonely path one night against an unhinged Bushi
Sesame street starts broadcasting an odd signal... it is order 66 for all the downies and autists
World War Ree. Not a slasher film, but thats my idea.
sounds based
Thats my new coronavirus mask
Those who have cheated death are chased by death himself, he is visible only to those who have cheated him and have to run away from him, he has the ability to make it difficult for his target to escape (lock all locks in a house to trap for example) and make nearby objects try to kill his target (if cooking, cause the fire to try and burn his victim for example). His weakness is he disappears when anyone who has not cheated death are with the cheaters, as soon as a cheater is out of sight of a non-cheater, death starts hunting them again.
There's a terror that can only be seen in reflections. He can't hurt you if you're not being reflected, but if you see him in a mirror or something similar, he can attack you. At the end of the movie, the protagonist has to literally face their fears and fight them by seeing where they are in their reflection.
He has a really embarrassing name and he kills teenagers who have too much sex.
Also he has supernatural powers because he was killed by bees or some shit.
