For me it's an issue of pacing. BoB starts off very strong and has a few weak episodes, but even those are pretty good. Pacific is at its weakest in the first three eps, but gets better as it goes along, and I'd say its strongest moments surpasses BoB.

Honorably did his duty. His arc is taken from his memoir, the only part that’s bullshit is the train ride home. He was stationed in China after the war.

I don't hate it but I don't love it. Standalone it would be really good, but everyone compares it to Band of Brothers by default. BoB was pretty much a masterpiece so the Pacific was already fucked before they began making it. None of the characters really connect with each other like in BoB. Sledge is a bit of an emo and Basilone has that fucking godawful romance storyline. Leckey is cool but he also has some shitty romance storyline. Overall characters and setpieces just weren't as good as BoB.
