this was literally one of the most worst shows I've ever seen. it's called Allen Gregory and it's hard to get from the synopsis, but imagine a show where the main character is an unlikable asshole that's completely unsympathetic and impossible to emphasize with. Now imagine that every supporting character is also an unlikable asshole that's completely unsympathetic and impossible to emphasize with. That's Allen Gregory
If it had aired on Adult Swim, I'd say that it was some type of avant-garde attempt at producing something intentionally filled with anti-humor. But it aired in prime time on Fox, meaning they meant for it to be funny and missed the mark by miles

well you just described family guy, which is wildly successful

jonah hill may just not be as clever as seth macfarlane

This. I actually thought this show was okay, except for some cringe parts like Allen hitting on the old principal.

The reason everyone always cites for not liking this show is "the main character is always unlikable because he's rude and gets what he wants" which is pretty much eric cartman, peter griffin, homer simpson, bender, etc. in most incarnations. I guess this show just crossed a line for most people where it didn't quite cross with me

Yeah I was reading about this 2 days ago. I can recall one episode and just not getting into it. No redeeming qualities whatsoever

I think the main difference is that for Family Guy, Futurama, and South Park they're actually funny, or were at some point in their runs. Plus Futurama has characters that are easier to identify with than Bender.
The Simpsons however was immediately subpar when the "jerkass Homer" persona became Homer's personality because it works against the rest of the characters.

Nah. That other user wasn’t kidding, every character in the show is unlikeable because they’re these rich New York City elite assholes.

The Napoleon Dynamite cartoon aired the same Winter, that was way better.

it was ok
people couldnt get into it because it was too bizare, which wason purpose, it was just an awful choice tho
allens dad is doctor venture, gay doctor venture, thats his entire personality

Really. Even if you didn't like AG, I thought ND was just painfully boring. They also made Napoleon seem a lot ruder than in the movie

The only character dynamic was that the MC wanted to fuck his big fat teacher or something.

Also the dad was a Rusty Venture ripoff with none of the nuance

I only saw one episode and thought that there are only 2 likable characters in it: the adopted asian and the masculine guy. Although, both allen and his gay dad are so unlikable.

I feel like they didn't really know what to do with the main character.
He was supposed to act like an elitist snob despite being an 8 year old.
But they never really did anything funny with it.
Heres the (((Highlight))) video:

>Jonah Hill
Automatically lost interest

It sounds like a funny show... not enough successful cartoons set in NY or CA

Simpsons worked not only because the writing was clever and funny, but that at the end of the day the characters were a solid family unit and loved each other despite how dysfunctional they were
homer despite being a borderline retard loved his family more than anything and would do anything for them
then at a certain point he became jerkass homer (aka yellow Peter Griffin) who would do anything he wants and couldn't give two shits about his family
>I only saw one episode and thought that there are only 2 likable characters in it: the adopted asian and the masculine guy
the masculine guy is actually straight and had a family but left them for the bald guy because he wanted an easy life. dude's a pathetic pushover and you start hating him by the end
no idea why the Napoleon dynamite show didn't take off, it was genuinely as funny as the movie
was it just too little too late?
it was like if you gave the bitchy version of Stewie Griffin from later seasons of Family Guy his own spin-off and all the supporting characters were just like him

Richard is literally the worst piece of shit ever animated. He stalked a straight man and pressured him into becoming gay, to leave his family and to marry him. It's implied that he rapes his husband regularly. He's impossibly narcissistic and delusional, and he never leans his lesson as the show returns to the status quo at the end of its only six episodes. Whenever he rightfully gets his comeuppance, its framed as if we are meant to sympathize with him. Fuck him. The worst character ever.

He was good in superbad wolf of wallst jump street and maniac but sucked in everything else
His solo projects are all dreadful like mid90s

>clever

>no idea why the Napoleon dynamite show didn't take off
maybe because it aired 8 years after the movie and nobody gave a shit by then?

Lucky for Jonah Hill that he is a member of the (((tribe))). Despite being fat, ugly and talentless, he will always have a spot in Hollywood.

Do you he's embarrassed about how he used to act before he realised he was an auteur cinema genius of high art?
Always get me how celebrities act however is popular at the time and then suddenly change to be 'not like that' when that thing isn't popular, I remember Ben Stiller talking about he was really good friends with Fred Durst and was in their video when Limp Bizkit were cool, do you think he immediatly stopped talking to Fred when they weren't cool any more? What a bunch of phonies celebrities are

>He was good in superbad wolf of wallst jump street and maniac but sucked in everything else

I don't even know how you can call him "good" I mean he isn't a bad actor but he's certainly never put foward an actually good performance. He's just kind of there.
And realistically we all know the reason why he's ((there))

I hate how the people talk in it, I can't explain it though. This sort of intentionally written to be really conversational even though it's impossible it actually is since it's a cartoon, and how everyone says everything like the writers think it's going to get a huge laugh, so fucking smug

Those shows devolve into that after a while, but their golden years knew how to balance the character being rude with being an actual character. Homer genuinely cared for his family and did his best to provide for them despite being an idiot, he literally gave up his dream job when he saw they were miserable.

Fuck you, I liked it.

Not to belittle you but this has always been their job and it's their job to have their tailor made personality advertised to the public. This isn't something new and you shouldn't idolize any actor, because they all do this. You sound like you have some kind of personal grudge towards them because you're typing like you were personally offended finding out that actors act as other people even when they aren't doing a movie.

I refuse to forgive anybody for being a shit person regardless of how much money it will make them anony.

Wow fuck you for making me look up and watch this crap

It's that typical Jewish "humor" of being condescending, ie Jesse eisenberg

He had a niche and did it well.
Sadly any time he actually tried to act seriously outside of meme Jewish comedies it came across as cringe like his weight loss

At least they made his legs in proportion to his real self.
