wtf I’m reevaluating my worldview now
not really, they are afraid to make female characters that are literally perfect. No one had issues before
carol who?
No, they are characters that are pivotal to the plot. They weren't shoehorned in just because they are women/gay/trans/purple/whatever
i cant stand this little liberal mouthpiece for the gorwn manbabies that write this show now.
Has there ever been a character as cunty and as wrong as Lisa? Even as a kid I wanted to bash her face in.
If Sneed and Chuck etc.
Hmm nah.
Well, they'd probably be written worse, as in fact Sarah Connor was when they brought her back.
Does anyone even still watch this trash?
If Ripley and Sarah Connor debuted today, they'd be written to be mary sues and not as they were before.
same old tired meme shitpost for (you)'s
it has been said time and time again that a good female character is written well and has a logical backstory, and no one cares that she's a woman as long as it makes sense. the problem is that female characters these days are strong for the sake of being strong and a "fuck you incels" feminist agenda. every one of them is a poorly written substitute for a great female character like Ripley or Sarah.
they had a motherhood theme which isn't allowed anymore, sarah is pretty bad in t2 but john's presence lessens it, she is fucking awful when john isn't around
exactly, its not the women, its the writing
No. Ripley and Sarah Connor have well defined narratives. Both struggle and overcome adversity in a plausible fashion. Rey and Carol Danvers are both blatant political messages. Their message is literally "LOOKIT HOW STRONK WOMYN ARE".
Supposedly its up for cancellation.
Source: A shitpost I half remember from the other day.
no
No one gave a shit when the new Wonder Woman movie came out.
Whose Carol Danvers? And neither of them take their pants off.
i liked the female lead in alien covenant for what it's worth
who the fuck is carol danvers
>now
lisa always sucked
Who is carol danvers?
Can someone please explain the origin of this meme.
upvote
Yeah the veggie episode onwards she was unbearable.
Lisa is 100% the kind of person to be murdered backpacking around an 'exotic' location.
John Denver's counterpart from a parallel universe. Famous for Appalachia Lows, and twilight on my hips.
>Who is Carol Danvers
It's Captain Marvel
N o .
Saw Wonder Woman and watch animu with lots of female heroes.
Go to hell.
I reject your reality and substitute my own
Yea and if Kim Wexler came out today, you'd all hate her too! FUCK
Who's carol denver
Still haven't seen Captain Marvel. I've seen the new Star Wars movies, but I wish I hadn't
fuck you :(
Alien and Terminator didn't imply that they were oppressed by a male dominated patriachy.
Ridley and Sarah also had far more male allies than male oppressor, detractors in their movies.
Ridley was ogled a bit, but she was respected.
Sarah was treated as a tough queen and a mother mary figure by most.
Also neither were overpowered mary sues.
Both of them saw their weaknesses in the first movie, got their shit together and became badasses by the second.
Carol was "oppressed" by the male air force and controlled by her villainous male space captain. And because the tesseract engine exploded near her, she becomes more powerful than superman with no weaknesses and a cunty attitude.
Rei is a fucking nobody (until the very end when its revealed she's Palpatine's granddaughter, which almost certainly was never planned in the first 2 sequel) that just so happens to be able to fix and fly the millennium falcon, hold her own against a sith lord the first time she holds a lightsaber, and has such great power she frightens Luke and can space telepathy with Kylo. And though she may be the granddaughter of potentially the greatest sith lord ever, she has had virtually no training at all and can force pull a spaceship out of the air.
Sarah Connor's escape from the asylum in T2 is a perfect example of how to write a strong female character. She's strong but she's still a small woman so she has to suffer the indignity of having the creepy orderly who's twice her size lick her face while she pretends to be tranquilized so that she'll get her chance to ambush him. She uses cunning and ruthlessness to compensate for the greater strength and number of her opponents.
A modern female protagonist would have just kicked everyone's ass with her bare hands while a pop song about girl power played in the background.
She founded Denver, Colorado.
I would like Rachel McAdams to star in an action movie
Not wanting Tumblr/Twitter ideology in your film is the same concept as not wanting your film stuffed full of dated memes and dabbing. Plus, it's still stereotypical and patronizing and dehumanizing to write Rey as this perfect flawless woman who can do literally anything and everything perfectly, almost as if to say that women are so incredibly fragile mentally and emotionally and physically that they need to be protected against any kind of harm or blemish by the writers themselves. These people just haven't noticed this because the mob hasn't told them to recognize the new age stereotypes yet.
Why did Season 12 sudddenly buck the trend?
I like Kim in Better Call Saul. It's still possible.
Someone post the webm with her and Rach Weisz.
I want them both to spit in my mouth.
>action movie
I guess hard core pornography is technically an action movie.
>watch Alien and Terminator
>hey I like these movies
>watch Star wars and Captain marvel
>hey these movies are caca
No. There's a difference between being a strong female character who still has weaknesses and is still a woman, and a feminist horseshit character where the universe hands her everything, she's more powerful than all her male counterparts even though they have decades of experience and training and she has zero, etc.
Ripley and Sarah were just good characters who happened to be women. They weren't sheros arisen to crush the patriarchy and reclaim herstory.
Fair critique and nonsensical vitriol often get lumped in together. I can't speak about Carol Danvers as I never saw CM, however I did see the sequel trilogy and definitely felt Rey was one of weakest characters in terms of story telling. She's a very one dimensional character and falls pretty short when compared to someone like Ben, who's arguably the most compelling Star Wars villain ever put to screen. The problem isn't that she's a woman, it's that she never fails, has no compelling relationships, and little complexity in terms of personal values. Like for the hate it gets, I genuinely think TLJ is the best of the trilogy because it actually had a good central theme and gave Rey more character depth through that theme; however this was immediately back peddled in the last movie.
no because the actress was actually sexy and literally strong
not the metaphorical type of these days
This, I unironically believe women should be stripped of most rights and I still adore Kim.
>I can't speak about Carol Danvers
Footnote: She founded Colorado I believe.
I'd only be upset at them if they were accompanied by the same media and marketing as the newer characters. If it's "here's an awesome movie about people vs machines or aliens" I'd be fine. If it's "here's a movie about WOMEN versus machines or aliens ... because the future is female and men are evil and you're an incel manbaby if you don't love this movie and castrate yourself in its honor" then yeah, I'll be mad. Maybe even a little weirded out. Perhaps turned on. But just a little bit.
Bullshit. I don't know who Carol Danvers is, but Rey was the absolute worst (best?) example of a Mary Sue I've ever seen in a big budget Hollywood film. If she was male it would have been just as shit and my opinion would be the same.
Sneed Connors
