And then after three years of declining comic book sales, Steve Rogers returned to the role of Captain America. If making a chimp into Cap kills capeshit movies then I am all for it.

Should have been Bucky first it would have been a way better ending to Captain America’s story. He was friends with Bucky all his life and he always believed he was a hero even when everybody else called him a murderer. Passing the shield onto him as his final act would have been beautiful. He could have stopped being Winter Soldier the soviet puppet and started being Captain America the symbol of hope. But nope we got Falcon who basically had no arc or personality in the previous films but scores them diversity points I guess.

i believe he's been temp captain america before then too. He's pretty cool character in the comics.
Also if we're gonna be poopy butts about it and race, the very first cap WAS black according to the books.
Also the trope of cap abandoning the shield is one they've used constantly through cap's stories. And bucky was cap for a little bit.
Keep in mind that Bucky coming back in the first place was one of those things that you NEVER did and we're lucky that story didn't really suck. Winter Soldier is a cool character on his own now.
That all said, it's not the same if it isnt steve rogers and i'm not sure how you fix that in the MCU. It works in the comics since every few years they go back to status quo but you can't do that in movies with real people and aging, etc.

Logically speaking why would the Falcon become the next Captain America and not Bucky? Falcon is just a well trained but ultimately regular guy with some gadgets whereas Bucky is also a genetically enhanced super soldier like the original Captain America and is thus the better choice to succeed him considering they have the exact same powers. So what gives?

There are so many ways to develop that character it's ridiculous

Bucky did it first, and it makes a much more compelling arc for him. Plus, after leaving behind his Winter Soldier identity he doesn't really have a hero alias so it works well for him to adopt him. Falcon already has a hero identity that people like him for. Taking away his Falcon alias to grant him the title of Captain America feels pandering at best and flat out disrespectful to those who liked him as Falcon at worst.

bucky should be cap because he is a strong as rogers with his cybernetic arm and his military experience makes him better than rogers. Too bad marvel wants to go full sjw.
