Let's discuss our all time favorite horror franchise: Ginger Snaps one more time. The ride never ends, bros
Ginger Snaps
>wasted years
I think Ginger's character is as deep as Brigitte's, even if it's not as relatable or sympathetic.
At what point does ginger snap?
>Ginger's character is as deep as Brigitte's
Elaborate maybe? I really want to believe that, trust me, but to me Ginger's whole motivation, her urges and stuff like that are relatively simple. Brigitte's character has much more depth and complexity to it.
What's your favorite scene in Ginger Snaps?
Ginger no!
I was itching for some snap posting but I cannot battle nature. Have fun anons and goodnight.
The basement argument scene in gs1 of course.
right about here
Havent seen a ginger snaps thread recently.
Night, snapbro
This one I think. The way Brigitte looks at those dorks is hilarious. Above the rabble as usual
Depends on your understanding of 'snapping'. She first snaps McCardy in his car
giv brijite gf
is that some Canadian kino?
I actually consider Ginger the co-protagonist of Ginger Snaps, I don't consider her a pure antagonist at least not until the third act kicks in, but by then it's not Ginger.
Ginger's arc is pretty simple plot wise, yes. She gets bit and you see her go through this hardship of puberty/lycanthropy and she's completely clueless as to what's happening, but she has all these new cravings now for sex, violence, whatever. She's always been the skeptical sister, so of course she doesn't believe it's lycanthropy but we know that by the end of the movie she's gonna transform into an irredeemable monster. Simple by the book stuff, yes.
The character depth for Ginger really comes into play when you start analyzing her actions. The movie does a perfect job of conveying her losing her sense of self with the transformation. A lot of it is subtle, not really noticable unless you take the time and effort to think about it. At first the changes are really subtle and empowering, so she just goes ahead with it. A good scene to bring up here is the search and destroy scene, when Brigitte gets bullied and Ginger is powerless to stand up for her little sister. This scene gets contrasted later on with post-bite Ginger beating the shit out of Trina. The curse empowered her to finally stand up for her little sister.
>strictly platonic
>bridge.jpg
yes
Only the second one.
>Ginger the co-protagonist of Ginger Snaps, I don't consider her a pure antagonist
neither do I. I consider Ginge a protagonist as well because she's only a teenage girl who was unlucky to be in a wrong place and wrong time. But when she becomes a villain in the second part, she's a "chaotic evil" type of character.
>The movie does a perfect job of conveying her losing her sense of self with the transformation.
I feel you. See pic related, they make it quite clear there that Ginger was in fact frightened even though she was good at hiding it most of the time
top kek. Based oc maker
Another great part about Ginger's character is that after the transformation she's absolutely glowing with confidence, empowered by the curse. School hallway with Ginger Fitzgerald at her femme fatale peak which then culminates in her banging McCardy. Showing how the curse's corruption started out innocently enough, giving her just enough moments of "high" to want to ignore every red flag. It's all been great till now, why stop right? It's a really great and tragic descent into madness here.
nice, also appreciate how even after getting taken over by the virus she still has those moments of awareness, doubt and regret its just that she cant fight it anymore
*cough* ovulating normie thot harlot *cough*
>glowing with confidence
Ginger was becoming more confident even before the notorious bite. It was quite clear that she wanted to be in the center of attention, wanted to be noticed. Ginger wasn't afraid of drawing attention (unlike Brigitte). I don't disagree, just adding some thoughts of my own.
>giving her just enough moments of "high" to want to ignore every red flag
But why didn't that sudden wave of confidence alert her? It's like putting two and two together. Some unknown species attacks you and then next day you notice changes in your body and behavior. I'd be worried as fuck if that happened to me, but Ginger was too ignorant to be bothered. Thank god Brigitte was observant enough
Ginger needed to be btfo more. Maybe that would have saved Brigitte some grief.
>has those moments of awareness
Right but apart from those very few moments we witnessed pic related. Zero fucks about everything
i've seen the original movie a handful of times.
how are the sequels?
>Ginger was too ignorant to be bothered
And there-in lies the tragic character flaw that lead to the downfall of Ginger Fitzgerald.
>You always blow off anything you don't get
said Beebs to her, indicating that it's sort of expected behavior from her. Skeptical, human, relatable. If she was more pro-active maybe something could have been done, but that's steering into fanfic territory.
Second one is good, third one is eeeeh
The sequel is brilliant, but it's very different from the original movie. Much darker, atmosphere of desperation and all that. I'm a big fan of the sequel myself. The prequel has little to do with the first two, it's more of a standalone story. Watch it if you really enjoyed the first two
