Conan the Barbarian was a documentary and the events happened in real time.

Conan stays unrivaled, but there's also red sonja and a more recent production: The Scythian. I don't think it's translated yet, so you have to go with subtitles, but this was so good. It really achieved that barbarian feel. Eastern european, so not pozzed or blacked or anything. Really recommended if you like Conan.
