>AMC sent a letter to Universal saying that it will "no longer play any Universal movies in any of our theatres in the United States, Europe or the Middle East."

This is in response comments regarding the digital numbers for Trolls World Tour.

>Trolls World Tour racked up an estimated $100 million in premium VOD rentals in its first three weeks of play in North America, more than enough to put the film on the road to profitability, according to the conglomerate. That's not far behind the $116 million grossed by the original Trolls in its first three weeks at the 2016 domestic box office on its way to topping out at $153.7 million in the U.S. and Canada and nearly $347 million globally, not adjusted for inflation.

Source? Sounds incredibly selfish especially in the situation they are in right now

kek. isnt there another jurassic park movie coming out next year?

>n response comments regarding
which comments, because i see dry facts there and nothing more

Always sucks seeing someone be petty during a breakup.

Not to mention Fast 9

Seems like a hollow threat. I think not having those would hurt AMC more than Universal, and others might join in and get "banned". AMC is trying to throw its dick while it still can since theyre filing bankruptcy.

Easily replaced by the numbers from doubling the screens showing TENET from Warner Bros

I always thought those Fast movies made their bank from Redbox rentals and $5 dvd sales at walmart.

It's because Universal did that behind NATOs back instead of working out a plan like every other studio

Is there any reason for theaters to still exist when you can get a 55+ inch 4k television that for like $300 these days?

Because consumers are too retarded to spend a thousand to get a 4K projector

Attached: chestlets btfo 4.jpg (1200x598, 111.9K)

The sound system is the main one, even with a home theatre, nothing compares to a movie theatre's sound
The screen is way larger than 55 inches, also
You're essentially paying for a premium experience

Just as I thought, VOD rentals will be the future and the theater as we know it will go away.

There will still be niche theaters, but it will eventually largely be digital releases.

AMC won't be around 6 months from now so that's an empty threat.

Someone want to break this down for my retarded ass?

Is AMC pissed at Universal for not holding Trolls until theaters reopen? And instead releasing on VOD and bragging about what a great and profitable move it was?

The thing is will they still be profitable when theatres reopen? A large chunk of the reason why Trolls 2 did well was because it was a highly anticipated kids movie sequel and it was the only way to watch it. Entire families got to watch it for 20 dollars. If it were in theatres, it likely would have made more considering the fact that even for a family of 4 it can cost up to 40-50 dollars, not including 3D tickets and other premiums.

Read You're on the right track, it's more that they did it without consulting NATO first and laying out a plan. There's a reason why they aren't mad at Disney for releasing Onward early or any of the other early releases

AMC is pic related

I'm guessing this is something like 'National Association of Theater Owners' and not fucking 'North Atlantic Treaty Organization'?

Naw its North Atlantic Treaty Organization. All the allied powers will soon be going to war over Trolls.

Surprised it took them this long to figure it out.

An experience with really bad chairs, commercials out the ass, and previews I don't wanna see (which I can't avoid because the start time is never fucking accurate). Surrounded by faggots that can't shut up. Kids kicking seats. Babies crying. The only time I enjoy a theater is when there is nobody else in it. I tend to wait for movies to almost be pulled, before I go see them, just so I can not be surrounded by mouth breathers.

PS
I hate you all.

Stop watching capeshit faggot and maybe the kids will leave you alone

the kino experience, user.

>Seems like a hollow threat.
Obviously, since cinemas don't have a business model without films, whereas production companies can always find another distributor.

Dammit not again, as a veteran of the first troll wars this could get ugly, this time they won't fall for our counter trolling tactics

You could just go during the weekday mornings instead of the weekend
Start times are when trailers start, not the movie itself
The amount of trailers depends on how long the movie has been out
The thing with the chairs is valid, the only alternative is to bring your own seat cushion but that's cumbersome

What a stupid threat. They'll have to modify their A list membership rates if they're going to ommit a bunch of movies from their screenings.

Isn't AMC filing bankruptcy?

Because seeing a film projected on a 50 foot screen with a massive audio system is amazing.

lmao how salty can you be because a troll movie did well during a lockdown and they said they might do some more digital releases

lol theatres can die for all i care, imagine it being illegal for a studio to own a theatre and they have to share tickets with a theatre

You're right.
>TV will never be as big
>audio will never be as good
>walls not sound-proof, constant vrooming and "WHOOOOOOOOOODAT"
>seat will never be as crusty

>nothing compares to a movie theatre's sound
because you don't own surround sound at home

movie theatres are just big speakers, they don't even bother to try make shit equal

Thank God I wasn't the only one.

Because getting your feminine penis sucked by your boyfriend (female) is boring when it’s in your living room

Yeah I do and they're nothing compared to the real thing and if you think so you're deaf
It's a good approximation but not close enough to replace it

If they do this movie prices will most likely double to compensate for you and your friends being in the room watching it. So this will be a friends tax put on you hope you have friends

I kinda hope AMC survives this one, bros. They were kino.

Yeah AMC is totally going to be fine with losing Jurassic, Fast/Furious, Minions, and Blumhouse money.

Universal wants to do same day VOD and theater releases moving forward so that pissed theaters off.
