I thought it was alright. Some of the shit in it was just fucking stupid kek.
Now that the hype has died down, was it really that good?
no it's just a scorsese taxi driver/king of comedy ripoff
capeshit is still capeshit
great thread, very intellectual
Sincerely the best movie from a big studio of 2019
More of an homage. Why the fuck do you think he cast DeNiro?
I had terrible expectations for this movie. I even read some of the leaked script and thought it was shit. It didn't help you retards couldn't shut up about it before release. To my surprise, I think it was a great Joker backstory. A sequel without Batman would suck ass though.
It was like a very well acted but still ultimately shit horror movie.
It's a great film but its not as good as king of comedy/taxi driver. Most people loved it so much because they've never seen Taxi Driver
Taxi Driver's entire premise relies on a guy so socially inept - not just alone, not just disconnected, but so fucking retarded that he thinks a porn theater is a valid first date and then when it backfires he wants to kill politicians over it.
It is a fucking retarded film for morons.
You're normalfag pleb. Tier list of cultural baggage you should have to embrace and understand Joker fully.
Entry level pleb tier:
The Dark Knight
The Killing Joke (comic)
Normalfag movie fan tier:
Taxi Driver
The King of Comedy
"Sophisticated" adult tier:
Carrie
Clockwork Orange
Falling Down
The man of culture tier:
Singing In The Rain
Billy Elliot
Dog Day Afternoon
Timm Thaler, or the Traded Laughter (book)
Man Bites Dog
Modern Times
The Man Who Laughs (both book and movie)
Network
Dogville
Enlightened tier:
Live leak regular viewing
Gummo
the line about "going werewolf" almost ruins the climax of the movie
I think it’s a fantastic film but my perspective is probably skewed because I was suicidal when I saw it and the experience was very cathartic for me and honestly made me feel a little better and helped me avoid killing myself
In hindsight i would have preferred a more comic book type of movie since this was just taxi driver 2.0
If this is what you genuinely took away from the movie then I feel sorry for you.
It is horribly directed and had a below-average generic story but Joaquin's fantastic performance saved it all.
Now mainstream people will be surprised when Todd Philips makes a huge stinker in his next movie because they probably think he is the greatest living director or some shit.
It's realistic for a stunted guy like him. He had a child-like aura about him. This Joker isn't supposed to be a sophisticated wannabe philosopher like Nolan's version.
I don't get why the said this Joker couldn't go against Batman. Arthur disappears after he becomes the Joker, I got the feeling he could absolutely manipulate people into doing shitty stuff and do some terrible shit without any guilt, he couldn't 1v1 Batman in a fistfight but 2bh neither Nicholson or Ledger joker could, so that's fine.
>Tier list of cultural baggage you should have to embrace and understand Joker fully
None of these movies elevate the movie at all, Joker should be praised by his own merits, not by some other movies you should've seen before "preparing" for a capeshit origin story, it was a good twist on the comic book character (the comics you listed have absolutely nothing to do with the movie) but capeshiters like you make Joker the most cringy topic to talk about online.
I love how when it was just released Yas Forums was super excited and saying good stuff about this movie and once it became popular you all started saying shit like this lmao. Now both plebs and incels from 4chin hate it.
The threads and memes when this movie came out were peak comfy Yas Forums posting.
It was trash desu. Could not even finish it
You mean all the newfags spamming joker threads for weeks? I've been here for a while and it was the first time I had to use filters ffs
It was a 6/10. Arthouse for people that don't enjoy arthouse.
It was a pastiche of scorcese and schizo movies.
It's only kino if you aren't keen to all the "borrowing".
It had complex themes and story structure but the delivery was extremely ham-fisted and elementary, essentially spoon-feeding the audience whatever emotion or "message" they are supposed to get from a scene, so ofc it was a big hit with the audiences because it was accessible even to retards.
I just changed it from a 3/5 to a 2/5
It is very Tarantino like, many references to cue what will happen. Seeing Fight club is enough to predict.
>It is very Tarantino
>Fight club
this is the kind of reddit trash that likes movies like joker, seriously fuck capeshit
Some movies are worth watching.
The movie it's an overall 5/10, because the story it's 0/10 and the acting is 10/10, but that alone deserves a watch.
First 2/3 were mediocre, last 1/3 was pure kino.
Seems like you're bad at distinguishing joking tones, of this message particularly.
>Joker should be praised by his own merits
Sure, but a baggage will help you to analyze, compare and catch the highlighted themes better than default capeshit watcher who will mindlessly praise this mediocre in general, but well detailed movie with author's timely fresh meta-commentary. That's critic's work.
>you should've seen before "preparing" for a capeshit origin story
Most of these movies are classic of cinematgrahy, which should've been known for a cinefile before Joker and not as "prepping" material.
>the comics you listed have absolutely nothing to do with the movie
That's where you mistook. The pleb tier mocks pleb who connect it and praise for that. You probably didn't see such a pleb at October 2019, but I've seen. They do exist. Also, Killing Joke comic is connected by having scenes fo loser comedian Joker and "one bad day" motif.
Which proves you're a bir ignorant even for pleb tier comic.
>capeshiters like you
How could you imply so?
It was actually a pretty good film overall. There were things in it that kind of bugged me (like portraying Thomas Wayne as a complete asshole) but the flick was well written and shot. That said, the way incels and altrighters glorify the flick (for all the wrong reasons) has been kind of disconcerting
Thomas Wayne was not a complete asshole
Yeah, it was good.
it was ok
This.
