Years and years of build up for one lame goddamn episode of battle with the dumbest ending possible. The war against the black metal zombies should have taken at least 3 entire episodes of just non stop, almost hopeless, absolutely brutal war. Should've been the most epic thing ever.

Unironically never. It's been almost 10 years since ADWD came out and he still hasn't finished the new one despite almost a quarter of it being done when he started back in 2011 (that quarter consisting of chapters he removed from ADWD), and he won't start writing the final book until Winds is completed. He procrastinates constantly and is always distracting himself by attending cons, doing press and getting involved in dozens of side projects, and whenever he does write he gets stuck because he's made the story too big and introduced too many characters to write for. We'll be lucky if he finishes Winds within the next decade, but he'll die of heart disease or old age before he gets even close to finishing the last book. The show is the only ending we'll ever see, and the old coot deserves it for being naive to be swindled by two inexperienced hacks who impressed him by Googling the answer to who Jon Snow's mother was.

It's hard to care about the books anymore because besides the story being ruined by the television series, if it took the fat cunt over 10 years to finish this book and he's got like 2-3 more to go, it's not happening. He's not going to live that long.

What? You are reading into things too much. The "meteor sword" was just Arthur Dayne's family sword. It doesn't have any special significance, especially in the show.
