All politics aside, was this a bad movie? Did it deserve an Oscar?

no and no

No and no.

It has 0 rewatchability though.

>All politics aside
No fuck you coward

there's nothing remotely good about this film

I am spic and appreciate the work of the taco, but there is something that prevents me from seeing this movie, the cinematography is good, it is that damn story, although blade, hellboy and the labyrinth are fine.

the tits

the set designs

Not a bad movie--didn't deserve the Oscar. I was legitimately shocked.

>bestiality and communism shown in a positive light
>all the non-communist male characters are shown as useless/incompetent/evil

I dunno those trips look good

I liked it a lot. It ws rather emotional desu

Typical romance film. Where the good guys win and the bad guys lose. Shyt.

Let just say it's better than the other nominees.

It's a love story where the romance happens for plot reasons alone - there is no attempt to justify the relationship at all. It got the box office it deserved.

no and yes

What politics?

communists are evil in the flick, did you actually watch it?

>it's better than the other nominees

>Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri
>Call Me by Your Name
>Darkest Hour
>Dunkirk
>The Post
>Lady Bird
>Get Out
>Phantom Thread

eh, if anything I'd argue Phantom Thread was better. but otherwise it checks out

I remember when trolling meant something

this

It was pretty shit and i was going in hoping to like it.
It was like Hellboy with all the action replaced with pedestrian soap opera slop.

Shape of Water is pretty much Free Willy but the kid has sex with the whale.

What a fucking shitty year. The Shape of Water, Three Billboards and Dunkirk were the only decent ones.

Kek

they wanted to save the creature while the evil americans kept experimenting on it

It was a retroactive award. He should have won for Pan's Labyrinth and / or the Devil's Backbone if you ask me, but the academy's slow on the uptake so a few years later once everybody realized he deserved one they gave him one after the fact for a lesser film like they did with Pacino and Scorcese.

Also, since he's a nonwhite liberal faggot who always shits on on aggressively patriarchal straw men he was a default choice in any given slow year. It's not so much that he made a good movie as that he made a decent film with acceptable political leanings while fulfilling diversity criteria.

All that being said, I thought the film was okay, a solid 7/10. Sally Hawkins' ass was a 9

they wanted to kill it because they couldn't experiment on it first, and then kill whoever was involved on their side to leave no proof

>we'll never get an R-rated Hellboy movie where princess Nuala gets nude to have shower sex with Abe

it hurts

Attached: nuala.jpg (333x500, 103.49K)

why didn't michael shannon go to the hospital when his fucking finger was rotting off

>>Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri
>>Call Me by Your Name
>>Darkest Hour
>>Dunkirk
>>Phantom Thread
all better than shape of water

I remember the part where the homo murders an innocent guard just doing his job and they laugh it off.

The girl was a qt

his brother is shit

what politics?

He already knew his fingers were gone. It was explained when we see him with his fingers reattached. There was only a small chance it would heal.

i tuned out when the guy in the restaurant went on a homophobic tirade and starting harassing a bunch of black people within 30 seconds

This. The exact same movie could've been made without the fishfucking or the gore but thats all del taco has is his eye candy shit

It only got oscars because of politics.

>children's fantasy fairy tale with patronisingly in-your-face moral message
>weirdly explicit sex, nudity and violence
It was an extremely jarring mashup of tones

Funny they connected those two things so closely
>young white guy turns down old pedos advances
>immediately acts racist towards blacks just so we're supposed to hate him for not sucking Jenkins cock

I turned it off at the diner scene. Hating fags, yes. But you mean to tell me this guy in fucking BALTIMORE in the SIXTIES is gonna go "oh no negroes in this fine establishment"

>politics aside

Then there’s no movie

Moonlight Shape of water etc only won because of politics. Hell green book even won somehow thanks o it

(But Viggo deserved it)

There was that scene where she tried to explain how she didn't feel disabled around the thing and it accepted her for who she was which seemed to be some attempt at explaining it, but still, it was a very abrupt transition from "maybe it's not a mindless monster" to "guess I'll fuck it"

Part of me almost wonders if Del Taco was dropping undercover redpills about the degenerate nature of women but I think it's more that portraying qts fucking gross ugly creatures is his way of self-inserting. Like, if Selma Blair will fuck a bright red horned demon dude he can imagine her maybe having sex with him, too.

It's the live action anime of Silent Voice

pay more attention next time

How is this strange, it was set in the early 60s. That was pretty much the standard back then.

>But you mean to tell me this guy in fucking BALTIMORE in the SIXTIES is gonna go "oh no negroes in this fine establishment"
They still do it to this day

I was on alot of Xanax when I saw this film only remember it being comfy and that zod was a bad guy

it's a metaphor for low male self-esteem, oh how can you love me ur so beautiful nice-guy-dom. there's nothing else going on.

the well-done version of the story with the politics removed is Edward Scissorhands.

I feel like Del Taco must have just watched As Good As It Gets before storyboarding this movie

Sally hawkins

Same

>Xanax

this is the only possible explanation for the positive reviews of the movie in this thread.

His wife was so hot
