Wheel of Time on Amazon Prime

>Sanderson already going around and making appearances on fan news sources doing damage control about all the things that people are probably going to hate about the adaptation

It's going to be wall to wall identity politics, isn't it.

bump

Considering the books are shit adding trannies and minorities might be the only thing to make it better.

>t. has never read the books

People who couldn't finish Eye of the World don't get an opinion.

Hey, people who finished Eye of the World would've also had to put up with FUCKING EGWENE for that long, who's like a one woman reason to hate Wheel of Time in my book.

>Considering the books are shit

They are so bad I tapped out book 4 I think? honestly who cares? I'm listening to the black company on audio book but is the same faggot that read these retarded endless bickering insanity

>Robert Jordan "Hmmm what are women like? oh that's right, fucking annoying!"

Who is Sanderson? I thought this was a lord of the rings rip off.

hey finished wheel of time after jordan died. he is also a fag and mistborn is shit

Yeah won't lie, there are some good moments ahead but if you tapped out at book 4 it was probably for the best because it goes HARD on Rand's self-pity party.

The weirdest part is apparently the women are based on Jordan's wife

Until the end of act 1 book 1, sure.

Sanderson finished the series after the original author died. He's a successful author in his own right and has done a lot of consulting for the show as part of the WoT team. But he's a hardcore Mormon and you can tell when he answers questions about how the show is coming along that he is trying to say that he doesn't approve as diplomatically as possible.

>isn't it.
Expect Star Trek Discovery lvs of shit

I'm trying to talk myself into watching this show with the mindset of "let's see how bad they can fuck it up," just so that each little seems less egregious.

I don't think it can be understated just how hard I cringe every time a new adaptation of something I like gets announced because I know it's going to get jammed with identity politics. In 10 years there will literally be film classes looking back on this period of time talking about how you can always spot a show made in 2019 because of the number of gay trans fat disabled characters were included.

Just don't, user. Over in /stg/ people talked themselves into watching Discovery and Piccard for the same reasons. It isn't worth it. It's not even the entertaining kind of fuckup.

Why didn't Amazon learn from Disney's SJWars debacle and just avoid hiring an activist to helm a show that's surely going to cost a hundred million dollars to make?

I don't think it's about money, they want to make people miserable and convince white people to give up

>Rewrapping the folded length of gray wool one more time, she tied the ends around her waist. The shawl defined her bosom more than she wished, and still exposed a bit of cleavage, yet it was a considerable improvement on the dress alone.

>audiobook
Based.
Check out Jhereg by Steven Brust, my favorite narator reads those books, sells me on all the characters.

yes, it is

Nyn pretending to hate the revealing dresses is one of the things that was lost on me in my first read through. The more I read the books the more I realized that she actually loved it and hated that she loved it.

>yes I've heard that pandering to leftists will get us lots of positive retweets
>huh? the show? who cares whether it's any good or if anybody actually watches it, we just need one million retweets saying YASSS QWEEN with pictures of the D I V E R S E actors we hired for white roles

also kek that they still cast a white guy for Rand. They knew that they wouldn't be able to get away with making him black or asian or whatever.

Oh thank you, I'll check that out. Honestly audio books are what this genre is made for though I couldn't imagine listening to a Terry Goodkind audio book. That shit made me roll my eyes at the ham fisted left vs right wing dichotomy

>They knew that they wouldn't be able to get away with making him black or asian or whatever.

Wern't he some desert or void rape baby? I don't remember much but I distinctly recall thinking it was "diversity fodder" Why would a small backwater place be anything other than people that look related? this is so retarded

Ah yes, the Wheel of Time, an entire world going to shit forever because women can't stop being manipulative and petty bitches and the only one who can save everyone is giga-chad with his reality warping harem powers, supported by the adventures of sly-chad and bulk-chad and their supporting harems.

Surely this is the proper source material to convey our woke and diverse ideals.

In the name of getting some sort of adaptation for this I would have been willing to accept a lot of changes. Even just reading the books there's plenty of B and C plots and characters that you can slash or combine to make it filmable. But Rafe is going to ruin it with politics. Nothing makes me nope out of a bit of media faster than female characters talking like hardcore feminists.

And it's funny because I understand that the attitudes we see in fictional entertainment can actually influence real world attitudes, and they could normalise a lot of left wing stuff simply by persevering in broadcasting it, but I can't help but wonder if they're achieving the opposite. People are starting to wise up and even normies have started to notice the political soap boxing that has been going on.

I remember when they first dubbed sailor moon into english and they had to change a lesbian relationship into "cousins" but it eventually because so integral to just movie the story forward they had to allow things you would think they would. I wonder how they are going to handle the concept of male rape for instance

>In the name of getting some sort of adaptation for this I would have been willing to accept a lot of changes.

>People are starting to wise up and even normies have started to notice the political soap boxing that has been going on.

Oh that's rich, that is some very normie sentiment right there.

>"What? it's better than nothing? geez you complain too much."

Go eat some turds you gave up on live years ago

I think what gets my goat the most is that they actually deal with the whole men vs women thing in this series at great length. It even reaches the conclusion at several points that men and women are different but equal, which, as far as I can tell, was pretty much all feminism wanted to teach society originally.

And still they're going to take this series, miss the thematic issue of balance in all things, including between the sexes, and replace it with feminist dogma which is going to drive away viewers, poison the brand against further attempts at adaptation, and entirely miss the point of the whole fucking thing.

>>"What? it's better than nothing? geez you complain too much."

That's two different things though. Wheel of Time as written could never be put on film. As a series of films or a tv show, if you filmed it scene for scene, it would be a dry and tedious thing to watch.

An adaptation is just that, an adaptation. Things gets changed in the translation and that can be okay so long as it's handled by a competent writing team who have knowledge and respect for the source material.

I would have been fine with cuts to story lines and characters and a streamlining of the central plots and themes to make the story more suitable for the screen. As soon as contemporary politics get in there it's ruined.

Apparently it's needed to bring in the Marxist utopia. You have to destroy culture altogether or else people will just fall back into tradition. Take Christmas for example? pretty innocuous right but you can see it clashing with the party line.

>if you filmed it scene for scene, it would be a dry and tedious thing to watch.

I think you've had that idea so long you've become convinced it is actually true. Take a Dick Cavett interview compared to what exists now. The best we have is long form discussions with self-admitted dummies. The alternative to "dry and tedious" is just entertaining ourselves to death

I dunno, Elayne's succession war story was painful to read.

>Ewww goats milk
>I can't just take the throne, I must cause 100,000s of deaths to take it!
>I hate goats milk
>I look another thing has just happened to go my way without any input from me and I'm now winning
>Why do I have to drink goats milk
>time to do something really fucking stupid, put my and my babies life at risk, get captured and have hundreds die rescuing me, but don't criticise me for it, I feel kinda bad for those soldiers!
>not goats milk again!
>I learnt my lesson, I won't be stupid and put myself in danger... right after I confront these black sisters working with a forsaken all by myself!
>GOATS MILK

It has the most annoying protagonist in the history of the novel; this was inevitable
