The ruling government of the galaxy is the RESISTANCE

>the ruling government of the galaxy is the RESISTANCE
That makes no goddamn sense

To this day I still have no clue what the political situation was in TFA in even the most broad strokes

It doesn't say that at all you dingus. If you're gonna point out stupidity and plot holes from the sequels pick the ones that actually exist because there's no shortage of them.

>It doesn't say that at all you dingus.
>"With the support of the Republic, General Leia leads a brave RESISTANCE."

Leia got a bunch of flak when they found out she was Vader's daughter and lost influence. The heads of the New Republic decided, very cleverly, that if they got rid of all their armies there would be no more war. So they do and 30 years later are run roughshod over by First Order because who would have thought that was a retarded fucking idea. So Leia forms the Resistance which eventually gets support from the Republic because they're fucked otherwise.

It's something really fucking stupid like that and only explained in some shitty books.

Oh and if it isn't obviously they literally pulled this nonsense out of their asses because they were determined to still have Rebels vs. Empire just with different names but had to somehow justify that when at the end of the original trilogy the fucking Rebels win. So they come up with this to justify the soft-remake that is Force Awakens.

How would they find out she was Vader's daughter? Only Obi Wan, Luke, Vader himself, Palpatine, and maybe Han knew (assuming she told him).

Three of them are dead by the end of ROTJ, Luke is in hiding, and I doubt Leia or Han would be blabbing about it.

They call the ruling political establishment the resistance against Trump, so it's not exactly far-fetched.

It doesn't say that the Resistance is the ruling body, it says that it's being supported by the Republic.

Its intentional. You won't get an answer in 10 years. If Disney canon ends - never.

The Republic is literally the ruling body. The "Resistance" is literally an extension of the Republic.

This is like calling the US Postal Service "The Resistance".

>somehow they found out Leia was Vader's daughter
SOMEHOW, PALPATINE RETURNED

Is this supposed to make it sound less retarded?

They used the force.

The "political situation" in the Nu-Wars movies is that Kathleen Kennedy and the rest of her team of leftist castrati writing-team are mad at Trump and anything right-wing or populist in general.
That's why they literally based the appearance of the leaders of the First Order on Trump's kids, then bragged about it.
Propaganda comes first; coherent world-building comes second (or never).

this shit is why I will never forgive RLM for sucking off TFA and then pretending they weren't shills a year later in their Rogue One review. Mike deserves to get attacked in the streets

>Is this supposed to make it sound less retarded?
>"It's something really fucking stupid like that"
yes, that's definitely what I was going for

What was the quote? "A charismatic group of immediately likeable protagonists" or something is how he described SpicJew, Mary Sue, and their dancing monkey?

well to be fair the communist Chinese ordered all the sparrows killed because they kept eating too many crops, then the insects and varmint ate all the crops since there were no birds to eat them

just consoom and don't think about it too hard, the mouse needs money more than ever

yeah and then they spent the entire Rogue One review shitting on the MCs and mocking the people that liked them. Mike ruined Star Wars more than any other human being on the planet

Rey was terrible, but Poe was unironically great. And Finn somehow, despite that gormless look on his face, ended up being the best of the main cast.

It all makes sense when you are a Democrat and you are following the directions of Hillary and Obama- RESIST! Then all the movies that have came out in the past few years make sense.

Poe was some smiling fucktard who had no character outside of "YEAH BRO UR DOING GREAT, FOR THE RESISTANCE!!!!!!"

Finn was a black stereotype who acted nothing like a Stormtrooper. He literally could have been picked out of a London suburb or something. Just screamed and made silly faces.

Btw Mike, stop leaving messages at my doorstep, Jessie's with me now and it's gonna stay like that.

You are right, in the way I put it it looked like I was addressing you.
I meant: are the people that wrote the books convinced that now the situation is clear and the confusion clarified? Because if this is the case they are insane.

>film not as good as the crawl
jj fagrams

I wanna make a gritty Clone Wars animated series, would you watch it?

A good question... for another time.

Same. What an awful shitty mess. WTF

>pretending they weren't shills a year later in their Rogue One review
How detached from reality do you have to be to make this statement? Why is everyone on Yas Forums pretending that RLM liked Disney Wars when they pretty much shat on them in every review? The only reason TFA got a positive review was because it wasn't a dumpster fire and people were still giving Disney the benefit of the doubt.

Leftists always see themselves as revolutionaries even when they're in control of the media and government.

Of course it makes sense. Lefties need to feel like a strong and brave resistance fighting against all odds but at the same time they're not gonna underplay the fact that they are the powers that be because their ego won't let them. So you literally have RULING GALACTIC GOVERNMENT which is also LA RESISTANCE. It's the Star Wars version of John McCain invading Syria and you breathlessly rooting for the underdog CIA against the superior force of evil goat fuckers

>it wasn't a dumpster fire

Attached: 1478306518927s.jpg (125x125, 2.23K)

You are right. Except! TFA was a dumpster fire; everyone who liked it was fooled by JJ's jewish tricks, including RLM.

According to the visual dictionary, the New Republic basically controls nothing while the First Order has conquered an entire space empire in the unknown regions. Which you would never know that because never once in the sequels do we visit a city of any kind, its all just barren wasteland apparently.

It's not supposed to make sense, like anything JJ does. Like blowing planets up while people from other planets watch, even after he was mocked for doing the exact same thing in JJ Star Wars.
He doesn't sweat details like that. He probably had to be talked out of literally writing "the empire came back" in the title crawl. It was a remake, after all.
The characters were fine in the first one samefag. JJ was trash for his quack job with the plot but you can't blame him for Disney turning the entire thing into a transgressive experimental film project in the next one.

>Finn was a black stereotype who acted nothing like a Stormtrooper.
He wasn't supposed to act like one. He was just some random kid they kidnapped and conscripted.

Poe was great because Oscar Isaac is great, not so much the character's writing. But he was still effective on screen.

Maybe Luke had to explain why he wanted to hold a funeral for Vader

No. Gritty is overplayed boring garbage. Gritty also doesn't belong in Star Wars.

Can we just take a moment to reflect on the fact that Palpatine's return from the dead after 30 years, in the final film of the Skywalker Saga (tm), was revealed in a Fortnite event?

Attached: fortnite.jpg (1233x639, 102.16K)

The characters are fucking awful and literally every single thing they (rightfully) shit on Rogue One for is present in TFA and worse

If the two movies following The Force Awakens had been coherent with an interesting story, no matter how predictable it may have been, it still would have been liked by some people. There are typical contrarians in the special education class that I teach that say they like The Last Jedi but none of them like The Rise of Skywalker. Instead of being able to somewhat enjoy the trilogy and later look back at how stupid it actually was we were treated to something that was horrible and we knew it was horrible as they were making and releasing the movies.

Yeah, just like the prequels. Pottery.

what's it like having a sub 80 IQ? Imagine being so fucking retarded you can't understand disney simpleton fanfic. They clearly explain it in the first movie. The galaxy is DIVIDED into two separate authorities, one is the new republic, the other is the first order. They are like separate states, with each one controlling a bunch of different systems. In the systems under the control of the First Order, there is the resistance in those systems which fights against the authority of the first order. This resistance is backed by the republic which controls a completely different set of systems.

Is that simple enough to understand? Are you legitimately retarded or just pretending?

>There are typical contrarians in the special education class that I teach that say they like The Last Jedi
kek

Nobody does, that's part of the magic

Psst... Hey, political organizations often refer to themselves by names which are not representative of their actual function/views.

In the prequel is clear. Not a prequelfag btw - arguably it was TOO clear and some found it boring. You could rightly argue that everyone involved must be retarded to be manipulated like that by Sheev but at least you know what;s the situation, and the motivations.

JJ, I am sure, as the shallow asshole he is, got all the criticism as "POLITICS BAD" and considered the lack of explanation a feature.

>it's okay that a character is terribly written because his actor is somewhat charming
>it's okay for a man who spent most of his life being raised to act like an emotionless arm of the First Order to act like a clown because he was a toddler at one point in his life
>even though Phasma and all the other troopers don't act like him at all

pic related is you when people started dunking on this shitty trilogy

Attached: 1458275444652.jpg (700x700, 67.67K)

Can we take a moment to reflect on the fact that Snoke’s character development led to him being a cloned sith pickle that Palpatine removed from a jar full of sith pickles.

how are you so stupid that you don't understand something that is literally spelled out in the opening scrawl?

go read the books bigot!!!!

Except how the fuck does a small terrorist organization build shit like the fucking Starkiller Base? It never states that they're another Government in the movies rather than some weird terrorist cell that the Republic refuses to take seriously. So either you're right, and they are another Government, to which the entire NR is absolutely fucking retarded for letting them just go and refusing to fund or help the resistance, or they're not, and they somehow built a fleet and army capable of steamrolling the entire Galaxy while having maybe a single percent of the resources, territory, infrastructure, and population.

>In the prequel is clear.
>I'm totes not a prequelfag though teehee
it's not, retard. Also, kill yourself.

Except it's nothing like that, Republic controls everything, first order is invading from fuck knows where while coming off like a comically forced edgelord threat, and instead of fighting it the Republic covertly dispatches some shitty underdog against it that we're supposed to give a fuck about even though it's just a toy force. It's like if the US sent a militia to invade Tijuana and pretending the stakes couldn't be higher when they have the resources to BTFO it in a day if the militia gets shot

Thanks JJ

Putting it in a text-crawl doesn't make it coherent.

it's supposed to be a message on how democracy is flawed and in some ways, unsustainable but it just makes Mon Mothma look like a complete turboretard who fucked the galaxy

Yes it is retard. You'd have to be a fucking sub-20 IQ to not understand
>Corporation blockading planet because politics
>Corrupt government can't do anything
>Helpful guy proposes voting out leader to help this planet
>Guy turns out to be evil and was manipulating both sides.
Literally child level politics here. The FO on the other hand has no explanation how they have the population and resources to build a force the way they did in less time than it took for the Separatists, who were building a robot army rather than recruiting.

They are another government. Galactic Empire was Imperial Germany, First Order is Third Reich. They control probably hundreds of planets and have access to lots of resources and are highly militarised, why is it unreasonable that they can build a giant superbase?

Basically think of it like First Order is North Korea, the Republic is South Korea, and the Resistance is like a team of rebels in North Korea fighting against North Korea but are supported by South Korea.
Then North Korea nukes South Korea in a surprise attack and takes over most of it, so all that's left is the Resistance fighting against North Korea.

JJ started TFA off virtually in the same sort of situation as A New Hope but didn’t seem to realize that can’t work with a direct sequel to a film that previously ended a film saga.
We should have spent at least the first half of TFA in the New Republic with Leia and Han (maybe Luke too) showing them dealing with what appears to be growing disenchantment with the Republic’s rule and maybe having a separatist group (similar to AOTC) splitting off and becoming their own empire.
I dunno, this movie just fucking blows because it’s a retread of ANH and its sequel sucks because it tries to be different solely for the sake of being different (while weirdly stealing shit from ESB and ROTJ).

What was the point?

Attached: trilogy politics.jpg (2340x1625, 876.8K)

ty

Yeah and then Tijuana nukes Washington DC so then the US just gives up entirely

God I fucking despise JJ

also your latter point is explained in the final movie, that Palpatine was secretly controlling the First Order from a hidden planet where he had a magic cheat button that could build infinite space ships.

>le "just too stupid for the prequels" reddit meme
Of course r/prequelmemes is here.

>less time

The sequels are set 30 years after the original.

The prequels are shit, but if you think that's because their politics are in any way confusing you're a brainlet.

I never said it was confusing, I implied they either make no sense (which is true) or are flat out retarded and require other canon material to flesh out.

The prequel "politcs" is the dumbest shit in the entire franchise. It's much more in line with the series to just go "mystical evil in the unknown regions building over 30 years", which is what is canonized in RoS. Seethe more though ;)
