We're talking about a Hellraiser movie here. Cenobites being the "good guys" isn't necessarily a bad thing.

The first 4 make a consistent story with as good an ending as you'll ever get.

Nah, the draw of the Cenobites is that they are what occurs when hedonism and depravity goes too far, that's what makes them both interesting and horrifying. If Waters made the movie the Cenobites would be le quirky outsiders whom you are supposed to sympathize with, goes completely against what makes the films good.

Just watched Inferno yesterday, don't get the mad hate for it on here.
At its core, it's basically a better Jacobs Ladder.

The Cenobites are traditionally depicted as neutral rational beings. The bad guy in most hellraiser movies is a human who tries to gain their power.

Inferno is one of those movies that people either really praise or really hate. Probably the most divisive sequel in the series. I liked it too.

To anyone who's going to say that cenobites are cooler as "angel to some demons to other" thing I gotta tell you that's no longer the preferred angle of Clive Barker's interpretation.
To him cenobites are priestesses in Hell and they serve the purpose of a special kind of torture in Hell.
I still prefer it for them to be their own thing but the setting made for a good story in The Scarlett Gospel

Half of that book was written by a ghost writer because he was very ill at the time. The movies were the first to suggest that cenobites might actually come from Hell, so they ran with it later on.

I see it working as an anthology series. Bad people doing bad things getting royally fucked by the end in the style of Tales from the Crypt. The tricky part would be integrating the cenobites and lore in a way that doesn't turn repetitive (you can only have people doing shitty things in order to get the lament configuration and subsequently getting fucked by Pinhead and co. so many times).

I think hell demons are scarier because there's always that lingering possibility in your mind that they are real.
