Ultimately the goal of the show is to instill fear in pedos and discourage them from doing things like this, and I think that's worthwhile. But yeah a lot of the guys they catch with their sting operation tend to be extremely sad, desperate characters if not outright mentally handicapped. They've snared a few genuine creeps too, but I do end up feeling kinda bad for a few of them. There is something kinda queasy about the way they seduce and cajole these guys into ruining their lives on television

If their tactics make even one of these creeps re-think taking things from desire to action, I'm all for it. I sympathize to the degree that they didn't ask to be hardwired that way, but these guys made a decision to pick up their car keys and drive to a stranger's house to fuck a child. That's not a "spur of the moment" type of action, either--they know there are significant risks of stings and they know how much they have to lose, yet they DO IT ANYWAY. That's how strong their desires are. So ask yourself: if they're willing to go that far, how well do you think they'd do in a relatively low-risk scenario of being asked to babysit their niece/nephew or shit like that? You know the answer.
