Underrated movies from acclaimed directors

This was a great film with terrific performances from Goodman and Turturro and Lerner killed it as the head of the studio 9/10 movie.

Agreed, I'll add the man who wasn't there.

Woody Allen has so many underrated films. Broadway Danny Rose, Shadows and Fog, and Deconstructing Harry to name a few.

Miller's Crossing from them too.

the king of comedy

I really believe that Allen's movies would improve a lot if he stopped casting himself as the protagonist in his films, cause he literally plays the same character in every film.

Is it a horror film ?

Deniro killed it in this movie but it had a lot of cringe moments, oh well considering that it's a dark comedy film you would expect those kind of moments in it.

It was his masterpiece. If only he made it three decades before.

But then there would be no based Hoffman

This. Love and Death is such a great movie, as long as Allen doesn't talk.

It was really astounding that he made such a good movie when he was 83, cause only an amazing director can keep making good movies at that age.

Heaven's gate is kino. A whole lot of drama during the production has tainted peoples perception.

Nah, it is not that good.

Just a well made Video-Book.

I think could have been a greater film in B&W

It's probably the greatest american film of the last 40 years

It's a good movie. I've only watched the 216 min (3h 36m) criterion edition. That it's bad became a meme because it was a huge financial failure and brought united artists into bankruptcy.

Reminder that it was nominated for several and won one Razzie award. Have they ever been right?

what wasin the box?

was the ending the dream?

Its great but really only the Criterion version is worth watching, it looked horrible prior to that

>Reminder that it was nominated for several and won one Razzie award. Have they ever been right?
The razzies are pretty much mostly right. But after single handedly having brought down united artists (started by chaplin, dw griffith) ending a hollywood legacy the meme started that it was a failure and many believe it to this day.

Hogwash, UA was never in trouble, they had James Bond as money printer. But fucking suits never want to take risks because it could make them a million less.

Miller's Crossing is fantastic

I belive the ending was a metaphor for "life imitates art" and I don't know what was in the box, was Goodman the one who killed the woman or was it the writer ? It was a little ambiguous if you want the truth

>Video-book
Elaborate if you can.

Barton Fink is my favorite Coens. I've seen them all besides Ladykillers

Not really. It's about a paramedic working the night shift in Manhattan struggling to keep his sanity together having to basically witness the worst of humanity.

The best Coen bros film, Lebowski expands it as their future relatives (same actors) w the dude in the midst
