Anyways, back to talking to the adult men. It's so fucking good because there isn't a single ounce of soi. There's zero fat. It's all action and great atmosphere. A persistent bad ass musical score helps. It plays like a slasher film so it's really fun. Arnie is at his absolute good guy best. The Predator is such a great design and played perfectly. It's a movie that's single purpose to be fun and bad ass.

It was overlooked because it didn't have Schwarzenegger, who was in the god tier Total Recall that year. It was also considered lacklustre compared to the original, in addition to stealing from the Predator comics without being as good. Ruben Blades and Maria Conchita Alonso are awful. It's one of those movies which people feel deserves reappraisal because it's light years ahead of modern movies, and because it fared poorly against the competition of the time, but there are reasons it fared poorly.
Tony Pope is the shit, though.
