Sleepaway Camp

Original movies only:
Halloween > Nightmare on Elm St. > Friday the 13th

Series as a whole:
Nightmare on Elm St. > Friday the 13th > Halloween

Hellraiser.

This

Friday the 13th is the most boring slasher series ever made

Phantasm
Or this
Almost all slasher films are boring except maybe the original tcm and a few others

Halloween 1 is kind of a bore. Nightmare 1 is definitely the most solid of the three.

thank you. getting tiring listening to 5ois lap up carpenter's sack juice constantly

You're thinking of Halloween

Based

Jasonnigger FUCKING SEETHING. Don't worry the rights for Friday the 13th will eventually be settled. The rights to the location Camp Crystal Lake and title Friday the 13th will be assigned to one party while another obtains the rights to the Jason character. Neither parties will ever join forces to produce a movie with all elements, instead they'll both produce their own bastardized entries into the franchise. From that point onwards the only movies you'll ever get are Friday the Cuckteenth! Soulless imitators, but as a Jasonfag, soulless is probably something you're used to. Meanwhile Myers is slashing up box office records left, right and center. Audiences cant get enough of him, so much so they commissioned TWO sequels simultaneously which are both set to break even more records. Read em and weep Jasoncuck, read em an weep.

Not a zoomer, halloween's lame fucking shit fell asleep the first time I watched it at 9 years old

I grew up on slashers. And I LOVED Halloween 2 (1981). Finally saw the OG and was horrendously let down. I thought it was the most boring thing ever. I was also 9 at the time. Fast forward a few years later and I decide to give it another go. This time I didn't care about the lack of blood or low body count. I was absolutely absorbed into the world of the film because of the music, the stylish cinematography and the portrayal of MM as a phantom like stalker rather than typical slasher. Over two decades and many re-watches later and I still love it. It's like the Black Sabbath of slasher/horror in that yeah you've heard faster/weirder/more experimental versions of its formula by most metal bands since but you gotta pay respect to one of the grand daddy's (and also like Black Sabbath it gets credit for being the absolute first of its kind, which is far from true).

But maybe you've given another go since you were 9 and still hate it. to each their own.

You actually think these will be good?

Yeah I've seen it a million times. the black sabbath of slashers would be texas chainsaw massacre or psycho. Halloween is just really stylish, but totally devoid of content.

Why so low? It was weird they cut together two different F13 movies, but it was still pretty enjoyable and had some good tits.

IP warring like this is most retarded fucking cringe shit ever, you franchise simps need to perish unnaturally

Nightmare > Halloween > Friday

The remake just doesn't click with me man. It tries to combine both the darker more serious installments and the more fun party ones and doesn't really succeed at either. It's super sluggish and boring. It's "dark" but in that really plastic Platinum Dunes assembly line sort of dark. I liked the guy who played Jason and the way he played him. And yeah i've spat some kids to that fuck scene but the kills were really lame and there just wasnt any real style, menace or even that much fun.

TCM dabs on them all by the way
Still the most disgusting movie I've ever seen, I can "feel" the stink and smell of it

Cool. At least you see the style. I get not liking the OG Halloween because as much as I love it, it's slow as molasses at times. I only seethe when people hate it and don't even give it credit for being stylish.

For example I detest the movies of Guillermo Del Toro but I admit the man puts a ton of style and artistry into his work.

Candyman
I approached OG Halloween not too long ago but what you said was on point. It's a sparse film but what it does right it does near perfectly. Out of all the major horror slashers, I don't think anything has done suburban horror anywhere near as good as Halloween did.

It's a truly one of a kind movie. Probably the most visceral horror film of its kind.

Yep. 5 is very stylish and fun and surprisingly sadistic. Sure Freddy himself is pretty annoying at times but the film is overall quite gothic and feels different than the others.

WCNN is a great idea on paper. I love the meta idea. That Freddy is based on a real demon trying to get into this world. I like the idea of going back to a darker tone. Problem is the meta shit doesn't yield anything actually creepy or interesting unless ENDLESS references to the original film gets you off. Putting a trench coat on Freddy and giving him some new over the top glove doesn't make him "dark" again. What made him dark initially was the cinematography/style/music/setting around him in those first couple of films. The style is completely static and blank here. Yes I know it's the "real world". That doesn't mean it had to be completely flatlined in the style and atmosphere department. And that kid is horribly annoying and holy fuck ANOTHER possession angle? Complete with exorcist style vomit? Why? The music was terrible and resembled something out of a big budget pg-13 action adventure film at times. The ending was more cartoonish than anything in the later sequels.

Give the film an appropriately dark tone, some atmosphere, a decent horror music score and do some weird twisted shit with the meta angle and portray Freddy the way he should've been portrayed and there might have been something there. Alas it's a bunch of nothing and cringe.

As for '10? It was bland as fuck but had some really good moments here and there. But mostly bland and forgettable.

Scream is unironically the best slasher and superior to all of these. Slasher is a shit boring genre, the characters are always dull since they only exist for 10 minutes just to get killed. Craven is kinda mediocre and Freddy's only notable difference is the surreal humor but stuck together there's probably less than 5 minutes of actual inspired dream content per film. Carpenter is one of my favorite filmmakers and that's because he's more western than horror and all his best movies are high testosterone, but Halloween is flat and bland, devoid of any of his characteristics. F13 is just a cheap opportunistic copy of Halloween. At least scream has really charming and fun scenes and characters and is really disturbing as a teen movie from the columbine years.

You're being too generous. You can't give most ANOES such good marks. You have to compare them to the whole franchise, which means having as many over 5 than under 5.

Also, FvJ deserves better than 5

Holy fuck.

I mean based for your love of Scream. But goddamn every and I mean every single other point you made was terrible....just terrible. ANOES is absolutely chock full of atmosphere and style. Carpenter's fingerprint is all over Halloween. F13 plays more like a Giallo/murder mystery than Halloween. There's loads of great slashers. Goddamn you suck.

I recommend people to rewatch Scream. It's cringe as fuck, you liked it when you were young and retarded. The ebin humor is cringe as fuck. Haha, I Spit on Your Garage, that was a riff on I Spit On Your Grave! Haha, only horror nerds like me will get that ebin reference! Lol, they cant decide between Hellraiser or Evil Dead, I know about those movies! I heard those titles and I clapped, I KNOW THOSE MOVIES EXIST. The Town That Dreaded Sundown! Lol, that's a movie that exists too, and I know it exists! Haha, Jamie Kennedy is telling Laurie Strode that the killer is behind her and the killer is behind him! Uh oh, watch out Randy! Haha!

What was so clever about Scream again?
