There's a grotesque lack of creativity in modern sci-fi, I suspect it's because most of the writers aren't into sci-fi at all and think that far-out ideas and creatures are "corny", they prefer to write a contemporary drama show and layer some very superficial sci-fi trappings over it. Perhaps I'm contributing to the problem by posting a space cat, but it is Caturday.

If M'Ress is canon (CBS rights holders retroactively declared TAS canon after Roddenberry declared it not canon and was considered so during the production of everything from TMP through ENT, when it was declared canon to sell blu rays) then STD and PIC are canon as well.
