FIRELORD OZAI, YOU AND YOUR FOREFATHERS HAVE DEVASTED THE BALANCE OF THIS WORLD...

FIRELORD OZAI, YOU AND YOUR FOREFATHERS HAVE DEVASTED THE BALANCE OF THIS WORLD, AND NOW YOU SHALL PAY THE ULTIMATE PRICE

honestly I bet Nickelodeon didnt let them show someone being killed on screen and they needed to come up with some baloney

Lion Turtle was fucking stupid.

ATLA had people dying, though. Even Korra did as well.

It really didn't, no one actually died except the mom I guess

>NOOOO YOU CANT JUST WRITE IN THE LION TURTLES TO HELP AANG DEFEAT OZAI HE NEEDED TO KILL I WANTED A SIMPLETONS PAYOFF

nobody was explicitly killed on screen for ATLA
some could be assumed to have died, or died offscreen, but nothing near the avatar having clear intentions to, and killing on screen

Avatar Aang, Firelord Ozai is not a war criminal! With disdain, I reject your verdict!

>Even with all the power in the world, you are still weak.
kino

>WE'LL START WITH REPERATIONS

Lion Turle was fine, but, in restrospect, they should have had more foreshadowing. Like we know the lion turle is one of many based as fuck races that have disappeared into myth.

How is
>the hero has to compromise his most cherished and deeply held belief in order to save the world
a simpleton's payoff but
>gains a new power out of nowhere that resolves the situation tidily
isn't

absolutely

The problem is that there was little set up for the lion turtle. I think not killing Ozai was fine and in tune with Aang's character, but it could've been executed better.

>uses ancient method that was done before bending by an ancient creature
>aside from being a demigod, he was also the final air bender left on earth, and still needed to show the right example of how his people would handle this situation so they were not forgotten

That other fire guy, the admiral. He was killed on screen. And the fish too lol

>Yue
>Jet
>Zhao
>that one firebender assassin
They all died in ATLA. Yue died on screen. Especially Zhao, he was explicitly shown to had been killed off in the Season 1 finale when he got dragged to the bottom of the ocean by the ocean Spirit. Hell, ATLA even had no issue showing corpses of people who died.

Unless you're specifically talking about people being shown getting decapitated on screen, then sure I'll probably agree though there would be ways to show death without being brutal.

And the point was that this "buildup" to the Lion Turtle came out of nowhere you fucking moron.

>Hell, ATLA even had no issue showing corpses of people who died
hundred year old skellys are way different from fresh corpses, or visibly killing someone on screen

you just know

Okay
>Yue
>Jet
>Zhao
>Sparky Boom Man
Even Roku kind of got killed off when still on the screen.

What exactly was Ozai thinking? Did he know Aang couldnt access the Avatar State? Did he honestly believe he could beat an Avatar during the Avatar State? If Aang never got injured he could have wiped the floor with Ozai from the very beginning.

>Aang needing to grow up, like he was supposed ot have done through the seasons while also sacrificing his beliefs as told to him by his previous lives, in order to keep the balance of the world is the simpletons payoff
>but getting a deus ex machina god power in the last five minutes that resolves his internal struggles and also saves the world isn't
Wojakniggers deserve the rope.

Why didn't he just break Ozai's hands?

Why would he care? He was the leader of the firenation high on his own comer enhanced powers to the point where he renounced his previous title and basically started calling himself the emperor of the world.

I doubt he even knew about the Avatar State anyway, not everybody does.

>Zuko, you must look within yourself to save yourself from your other self. Only then will your true self reveal itself.

>And the point was that this "buildup" to the Lion Turtle came out of nowhere you fucking moron.
Cry more

>Yue
magically turned into the moon through spirit fuckery
>Jet
didn't die on screen. they even joked in a later episode that it isn't clear if he is dead, highligting the issue of really killing characters off
>Zhao
also didn't die on screen. sure, it is reasonable to assume that he drowned. LoK later shows that he got dragged into the spirit world, which is kind of bullshit
>Sparky Boom Man
true, pretty heavily implied that he fucking exploded. more of a suicide then a kill though, because he died using his own powers.

now that I think of it, Korra has a lot more graphical deaths, with characters activly killing one another. I really forgot what my point was, but I think it kind of makes sense that they don't end the series with Aang pummeling the Fire Lord to a pulp

There is no way the Royal family doesnt know about the Avatar State.

Why didn’t Aang just cripple Ozai permanently? He wouldn’t be able to bend properly ever again. Killing may have been against his teachings, but what’s so bad about breaking someone’s limbs

Probably just got overconfident, nobody had seen the Avatar for more than 100 years and other than that earth kingdom general guy and the guru, nobody seems to be aware of the avatar state being a thing. Also he probably figured that if Azula/Zuko were able to beat Aang, then he could too.

On one hand, Sozin had to experience it firsthand. On the other, "Roku kicked my ass in about 10 seconds" is not the kind of thing he'd want to advertise, even among his own family.

Out of arguments already. Not gonna make it

Or just restrain him, the way they did with Azula.

While I agree that Aang killing Ozai would have been the "right" ending to his arc, it's true that it would have been a huge downer on the finale. The last shot would have had Aang traumatized/crying. You'd need another half a season for Aang to see a therapist for it to end on an even remotely happy note.

why didn't aang just fuck azula in the vag

Fire Nation royalty has access to the Fire Sages you do realize not to mention the Avatar has been around a long fucking time so has the Avatar State. It should be common knowlege to anyone in the know.

apart from the stupid ending and the stupid drama queen MC I honestly think korra was a good show. Great villain and world after Aang.

In book 1 we see Aang turn into a giant fish monster and drown dozens of firebenders. He essentially kills them and it doesn’t register on consciousness afterwards. It’s weird how he was so against taking life in the final episodes when he pulled this shit as a rookie

Aang didnt kill them it was the Avatar state taking control over him. The same avatar state that wanted to kill Ozai.

>He essentially kills them and it doesn’t register on consciousness afterwards. It’s weird how he was so against taking life in the final episodes when he pulled this shit as a rookie
speed watcher. It's only shown very brief, but he later has basically PTSD from the whole thing, and nightmares about going into the avatar state

IT WAS HIM
IT WAS THE FUCKING FISH

Technically isn’t Azula the strongest firebender? She’s a child prodigy and her fire is blue

Because Aang didnt do it personally. He was only acting as a medium for the Ocean Spirit to interact with the physical world. The Ocean Spirit is the one who did everything,

we may never know

If Azula can't be with me, Zuko is the only person acceptable of enjoying her.

I'm not suggesting the show needed to be full of blood and guts but what was the point in having Sokka become a master swordsman if he wasn't allowed to be shown ever hitting someone with a sword?

Yet, coincidentally, you dont see the corpses of any of those characters. Because Nic told them they couldn't kill any characters off in a kid's show, so the writers had to leave everything open ended.
