I unironically love the Anakin and Obi Wan duel on mustafar
It’s exactly what I imagine a fight to the death between two superpowered swordsmen with a shared deep history would be
Do people really think it’s too long and badly choreographed?

>when anakin smashes the controls for the shield and obi wan doesnt kill him even though his saber is on the other side of Anakin’s
>Obi wan doesnt force push Anakin when he jumps onto the hovercraft
no it's pure kino
battle of the heroes is the greatest track in the franchise and the last part of revenge of the sith is some of the best cinema ever recorded
Yeah, it looks like the goal of each character is to hit the other person's lightsaber, not the other person. All swordfights on tv do this to an extent because of how fight scenes are choreographed, but some are better at hiding it than others. Both the Prequels and the ST do a poor job.
There is an autist on YouTube who did a frame by frame analysis of the fight.
The entire fight was on point with only like two-three moments where they were clearly only aiming for their swords
N-NO WTF CINEMA SINS SAID THE FIGHT SUCKED
>Slow as Obi-Wan spin stands in your way
>Luke repeatedly hitting Vaders sword while he barerly do anything and falls over stand in your way
Because the OT fights were peak choreography right?
I don't think it's badly choreographed, but I do think it goes on too long. All the stuff in the control room, even the things people complain about like the part where they're moving too fast for their sabers to connect, is pure kino. After they leave the choreography feels lackluster.
What's everyone's favorite saber battle? Empire will always be my favorite, but I think the Maul fight in TPM had the coolest choreography of any of the film duels. I was never a fan of either Yoda fight.
wait what

What's this gaslighting revisionist history shit? What the fuck are all those stupid overhead, side-to-side strikes that Anakin spams on repeat? The choreography is laughable.
Yes. It's superfluous and ridiculous. The prequel fights in general were trash.
>Do people really think it’s too long and badly choreographed?
No, the prequels had solid fight choreography as a whole. The few missteps can be attributed to character quirks like Obi-Wan not wanting to kill his best friend.
Anakin should've won, saved Padme, killed P*lpatine and ruled the galaxy with an iron fist.
the duel was shit because there was no tension. everyone knew they would both survive.
Yes. All that over the top video game bullshit only for it all to end on small hill near a river of lava. The whole fight could have been five minutes right there. The whole point is Obi Wan defeats Anakin and leaves him.
The less said about the ANH fight the better. The lightsaber props were very fragile, David Prowse couldn't see a thing in his helmet, and Alec Guinness didn't want to be there. The ROTJ fight was pure kino though. At that point, Vader had pretty much lost the fight and was trying his hardest to not get sliced open, and Luke had gone berserk and was venting his rage. It's good choreography.
can we talk about the whole "IT'S OVER ANAKIN, I HAVE THE UPPER GROUND!" thing? It's fucking retarded and I'm surprised we've come to grow accustomed to take it as acceptable.
Jeremy will say anything that isn't under the disney label sucks.
Guy goes easy on all their movies, and doesn't add obvious sins that would landed multiple in any other film
>REDDIT LETTER MEDIA
>CINEMASINS
>OT GROGNARDS
>UNDERAGE MEME ABUSERS/SHEEPLE
All certifiably BTFO
it's a way of showing how cocky is anakin and also to show obi not wanting to kill him
How could Palpatine not remotely pick up that Anakin was gonna kill him?
except it makes sense for obi wan to hold back, fag
Fuck Yeah Bruh! Nu-Starwars Cant Compete!
He’s right. Anakin has to leap towards a stationary target. How hard is it to to smack something moving in one direction with limited range? Anakin took the bait and he couldn’t defend himself mid air.
No, they were peak story telling. Something none of the prequel fights can even remotely touch.
Obi Wan vs Vader in ANH is one of the shittiest sword fights in the history of popular film. But the smile Ben gives when he sees Luke has more heart and soul than anything in any prequel/sequel/children's cartoon/shitty EU book.
who knows, the entire point of the sith religion is to betray each other for some reason

Why does Anakin?
I know that. I mean he should have sensed it the second he began to move. You'd think the guy who constantly clouded the vision of the Jedi could see this coming.
>Anakin had to leap...
No, he didn't he could have just taken the lower ground of the bank and he would have been at an advantage, in a real sword fight.
It doesn't make sense for Obi-wan to say such a thing to begin with. It makes no sense.
The problem is it has zero suspense, its just them swinging wildly until obi wan tells the audience something will finally happen if anakin jumps. It doesn't feel like a deadly fight as theirs zero emotions, zero hesitation, zero reaction, its like two compléter opponents going through the motions. The swinging on ropes and standing on droids was also fucking dumb.
The actual sword striking isn't that bad, it's the pacing and tempo that's a complete mess.
???
It's ludo-kino. You're too much of a normalfag to understand the delicate threading of that movie.
I fucking hate that there's clearly a large section cut out of the middle, and the fact that Lucas was so goddamn on the nose he had to end it that idiotically
it's a good fight scene, just poorly filmed and edited
>It doesn't make sense for Obi-wan to say such a thing to begin with. It makes no sense.
he wanted anakin to stop fighting and make him see that is fruitless to continue
>anakin, i have an advantage and i can kill you if you continue
>nah fuck you i'm jumping
>don't try it
He wasn't omnipotent and jedi/sith can't just passively read the minds of everyone around them all the time, he thought he had anakin completely subdued which was fair enough since anakin had never once opposed him and had been blindly loyal.
*fucked Padme while she was still out cold
good game
>anakin, i have an advantage and i can kill you if you continue
I'm afraid you aren't able to read. I'll say it again. Obi-wan didn't have an advantage.
What does that even mean?
What part of "Send me to kill the Emperor. I will not kill Anakin" was unclear to you?
no
There are strong parallels between Othello smothering Desdemona with a pillow and Anakin choking Padme.
It means "I know the prequels are shit, but I have to convince myself that I like them to be contrarian."
>It doesn't make sense for Obi-wan to say such a thing to begin with. It makes no sense.
Conceptually it was fine. That anakin had become blinded by pride and overcome a disadvantage, and obi want was warning him because he did want to hurt anakin (why he decide to cut of 3 of his fucking limbs is another thing...)
The problem is, as always with lucas, the execution. Lucas had clearly wanted this situation, thought to himself "what's a situation where anakins reckless leads to his defeat", and a little hill and some lava was the best he could come up with. Yes it's stupid and has been mocked relentlessly on here.
i actually like the fights in Nu wars. it's one of the things they did much better than the prequels. sabers looked like they had weight and were dangerous, characters looked like they were out to kill each other.
Hé could have just lopped of a limb like he ends up doing.
