Absolutely. I've seen plenty of movies high and plenty sober and I've loved both. Smoke if you want to look for the technical details, stay sober if you don't mind missing a few flares in cinematography in exchange for following the story and characters more closely.

I smoked a joint in the parking lot before I went in to see Isle of Dogs and don't regret it for a second; there's so much symmetry and simple geometry in that movie, along with different text on the screen, it was wonderful. Would recommend.

I tried to watch Mandy stoned but had to pause it half-way through. The visuals in that movie are obscene to keep up with.
