This is still the only anime movie that could be considered a proper art, absolute kino. Not that there aren't other good anime films, but you know it to be true.

is just as bad

correct. Spirited Away, The Tale of Princess Kaguya, Princess Mononoke and Wolf Children are the next tier below but EoE stands above the rest as the GOAT

Anime can’t be kino and its only for horny nerds who want to fuck their “waifu” and gaping hole trannies who WANT to be the “waifu.”

You know the rules, post yours

All of Satoshi Kon's films are golden.

Ghibli is a bit overrated since it's babby's first anime movies, but the Miyazaki ones are all pretty good.

I also liked pic related

any torrent or streaming site that has anime will also have anime movies

...

You're on an anime website

running man is one of my all time fav short films.

amazing.

Well, that's just dull

Watch the picrelated. I've never watched an anime before (beside the Spirited Away) and though it was some turbo generic romanetic comedy, but was forced into watching it after reading the starling reviews

and holy shit, i was impressed. it wasn't anything philosophical on tarkovsky level or anything, but it was genuinely a great movie. one of the best I've seen over the past decade, together with the Parasite

I didn't like Your Name. It's nice to look at, but everything else is just so empty. The only good Shinkai movie is 5cm Per Second.
Pic related is my favorite.

LOL you’re kidding right? Did you really, I mean really really take this film seriously? How can you take a film that has gender swap seriously? How bottom of the barrel of a weeb can you become to take a gender swap story seriously?

This movie could've been good/great if it didn't have so many characters only to have them do nothing.

>How can you take a film that has gender swap seriously? How bottom of the barrel of a weeb can you become to take a gender swap story seriously?

That's not the point of the story. It's barely a part of it at all. It's a romance between strangers who can't really meet, story.

This one had a good premise but idk, it kind of goes to shit somewhere.

this

It's still great, but it's easy to tell that a lot was left out. They obviously tried to include a bunch of character plots from the manga but didn't have time for them. So you get character resolutions at the end for side characters that were barely developed at all.

This is the only animu I'm waiting for rn. There are camrips with translations out there, but I would really like to see quality.

I am as well.

I've got both Metropolis and Night Is Short, Walk On Girl ready. Which one should I watch tonight? I have seen The Tatami Galaxy if that makes a difference.

Japanese animation offers nothing conceptually speaking. There’s no clear distinction to it other than the art. It feels original because it is very imaginative but when you break it down to its deepest point, it’s nothing to write. AKIRA is the most overrated celebrated animated film ever. They introduce the clown gang in the beginning and it doesn’t pay off. Kaneda and the lead girl have the worst romance I have ever seen in any film, the girl btw is a bad character in itself. I never cared about her and her revolution story line. Tetsuo is just angry and I kinda don’t get his anger. It’s just because he felt below a friend? And don’t even get me started on the final battle between Kaneda and Tetsuo. The city is in ruins but somehow the main gang survives. Like what? Explain it. I can go on and on about this overrated shit. It’s only so liked because it’s cyberpunk wooo omg so cool whaaaa

Metropolis is one of the must-watch ones.

Nice, now I don't have to read the manga.

>Overrated because it's widely acclaimed by non-weebs

I will never understand contrarianism

A Silent Voice is indeed cute. I love how they handled the characters.

For me, its LotGH. The greatest anime series of all time.

I still need to see this, but Perfect Blue was kino.

your name reminds me of tenkousei

If it's popular among people who aren't familiar with the medium, doesn't that generally mean that it's overrated or at least entry level? And that applies to any medium I think.

Metropolis is really good. The animation is amazing, and I loved the subplots like the one of the son wanting to please his dad, or the rebels' revolt.

Best anime film. You don’t dispute it. It goes so dark, it goes deeper than any anime film ever has

Alright lads, Metropolis it is. I'll watch the other one some day soon though, because The Tatami Galaxy was damn near perfect.

It's not. You just suffer from autism.

as much as I love EoE you need to watch the rest of NGE to understand the context. it's undoubtedly kino but the fact that it can't stand on its own in that capacity to someone who just wants to jump into it with no experience with the anime makes it flawed.
