The great debate.
EoE vs 2001
Which was the better film?
The great debate
2001, next question
Fuck off weaboo
2001 and it isn't even close.
2001 was made in 1968 and it still holds up today. The End of Evangelion is great too.
EoE
what about 2001 vs solaris
2001 by far
I love Tarkovsky but Solaris is fucking awful and misses the point of the novel completely
Sure Evangelion is good, but this isn't a debate.
EoE is nothing but shock value and visuals, much preferred the OG ending (though the manga is best Evangelion, fucking fight me homo)
>much preferred the OG ending
Based and high IQ
apples and oranges
Both
>The great debate
>zero chance this will generate a great debate
One his about human evolution into higher beings.
The other is some autistic cartoon with homosexual undertones.
how strongly does the manga deviate from the anime?
Asuka is heavily downplayed in the manga
well there goes any interest I had in reading it whatsoever
pleb
All the story beats are the exact same through the events of EoE, but by that point the writing is entirely unique. Shinji is nearly a whole different character as well (more snarky and less recluse). Rei is also featured much more heavily than in the series and same for Kaji. The biggest change other than the ending itself may be Kawrou who is introduced around what would have been episode 22 instead of 24.
I personally prefer NGE, but it's a unique interpretation worth checking out.
2001, fuck off with this weeb shite
also Toji's fate hits a lot harder
2001 is more emotional
Evangelion is more cerebral.
I don't feel like cringing when I hear a line of dialogue in 2001. So 2001, by a mile.
t. assblasted Lem that knows his novels will only be remembered because of adaptations
Kubrick is a hack so I’m going with EoE
>(though the manga is best Evangelion, fucking fight me homo)
Patrician.
Because OP is an idiot, how about this one.
Still 2001 for me though.
These two movies are so radically different in almost every way, I don't think you can close to objectively compare them.
That being said, I guess if you do go off of a pure feeling of scale and encountering the unknown, nothing beats 2001, especially in a real theatre. However, EOE does get really close for an animated film.
kubrick and tarkovsky are actually very different directors. but yes i'd go with 2001 anyday
