I absolutely love 90s blockbusters and I'm sad that they died out.

I think they did go for mock accents but the director gave up and asked them to stop trying. Costner fucking phones in the whole movie, and even then he personally edited the movie to cut Rickman's scenes since he was totally upstaging him

yea was a good decade for movies.

Men in Tights was better, both as a parody and as a proper Robin Hood movie.

Watched this with my brother recently. He told me it was shit :( . Guess I really have nostalgia goggles.

Anybody seen the Russel Crowe one? Is it any good?

It was awful

>Hey let's make Robin Hood realistic and boring and give him a nigger sidekick
Better than the fucking Ridley Scott version but still

It is garbage.

I was ok with Freeman as a Moorish companion but they were a bit too on-the-nose about him being some Muslim renaissance man whereas the Europeans were backwards.
The scene where Robin finds his father haunted my childhood for a while.

I saw it as a child, and I liked it very much, but I was a child.

Your brother is retard. Peak Keanu, solid suspense and action, and qt Bullock.

Sandra was the only bad thing about the movie.
>JACK! JACK! JACK! JACK!

Shit
Its shit
The best one will always be the Errol Flynn version

English accents in those days was probably closer to Appalachian English than more British accents.

patrician

>according to Olivia de Havilland the kissing scenes took many tries because Errol kept getting a boner in his tights and ruining the shot

Cringe, Kevin Costner is best Robin Hood.

Nah

Medieval historian was interviewed in a clip, says that the accent was actually not far from the truth.

He doesn't even try to hide his American accent. He was fucking awful

What the fuck does history have to do with a folk tale? Robin Hood should sound British because that's verisimilitude

It's shit. Just a regular movie where some dude becomes the reluctant messiah of a small village about to be invaded. Couldn't have so much cliche in it if they tried. Also takes itself way too seriously for a forgettable action movie.

>What the fuck does history have to do with a folk tale?

Consider the timeline. Consider that most folktales or stories are based off real events or characters.

What does history have with anything? Maybe everything?

that's a weird question user.

One of Bryan Adams greatest films.

Yeah yeah whatever. More important than truth is the appearance of truth. A Robin Hood that speaks American is just weird, doesn't feel right. Whether or not it's "historically accurate" doesn't change the fact that its offputting, and the film is historically inaccurate in a million other ways so I don't see how this defense of his American accent makes any sense
