Seriously, this movie is so overrated. Groundbreaking at the time? yes. but that doesn't make up for the lackluster storytelling and rather underwhelming plot.

i read the book because of /lit/ but i didn't really like it that much. the problems with these thigns is that people hype them up too much or you watch or read something because of how many times you see people talk about or reference it and that gives you the expectation that it is popular because it is amazing when it isn't

It's a relatively simple story told in a mostly straight forward way but that's because it works on a fundamental level that there's no point to further complicating it. It's about free will and the deeply immoral act of compromising it. Why muddle it with unnecessary complexity? It's already visually very stylised and at points a bit indulgent in its campy presentation, nothing that changing the plot would add.

>plot
You went full Alex Jones.
Absolutely filtered.

best part of the movie was the nudity, only a faggot would disagree

AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

>harassing people with canes
>ultra-violence
total let down

>is so overrated
Oh no, other people enjoy something TOO MUCH! Oh NOOOOOO! I need to complain about this on 4channel right away!

please explain exactly what is so underwhelming about the story

this
explain exactly what was "underwhelming"
I don't think you understand what that word means

If... was better.

>old movies with outdated trope isn't as good as it used to be
Who knew?

>outdated trope
Which specific trope in A Clockwork Orange is outdated?

I think the selling point today of A Clockwork Orange (now that compared to shit that have come out since, it's not as shocking) is its artistic value.
There is artistic value to this movie, there is good direction and acting too. We don't get to see art in movies so much anymore.
Of course with people having become zombies for mindless CG laden entertainment schlocks, art in movies will not appeal to them.

first half of the movie is good. second half is a bit boring tho

You go on Yas Forums. The movie starts off with something you've seen happen online a million times. It doesn't shock you.
And what they do with it doesn't go in a very "shocking" thing. I was more shocked by trainspotting or something of the like.
And all these pretentious hipsters raving about it being some artistic message act like it hasn't been done a million times better. Sure it's the first to do something like that, but Jesus, it isn't something that's mind blowing to today's standards. Aged like milk. 5/10.

The casual rape, totally won't be out of the editing room.

>expecting anyone to read that

>begging for an explanation
>"lol didn't read"
get cancer you fucking mongoloid. people like you are a waste.

Casual rape is not a trope you actual retard.

>rape isn't a trope or a plot device
These are the idiots you share with on this board.

>it isn't something that's mind blowing to today's standards
Provide me with an example of something mind blowing by today's standards then.

You have the internet and you don't know the definition of the word trope and now you're backpedalling and calling it "or a plot device". Literal actual fucking retard.

Bet he's going to say Nolan now or better yet Villeunuve.

you are such a fucking retard OP, it's the best film ever made

Not him, but I honestly found Joker more shocking and artistic than this movie.

What's so artistic about Joker?

Same shit about "muh politics" in clockwork orange.

Based.

It's simple done extremely well, and still one of my top five.

What are you talking about?

>Seriously, this movie is so overrated. Groundbreaking at the time? yes. but that doesn't make up for the lackluster storytelling and rather underwhelming plot.
spotted the zoomer

Causing trouble are we OP?

I'm 28. This movie isn't as great as you retards make it out to be. I'd love to know what makes it so "best movie".

>rape and assault wouldn't motivate a man to be arrested because I've watched hours of r/watchpeopledie

Nobody ever said it's the best movie ever.
Even if it's just Kubrick's movies we're talking about.
But it's still a good one, that's the general consensus.

I'm not saying it's fucking bad. I just think you people overhype it to death like it hasn't ever been done better.

Shocking, maybe, but that's not really the point of either film you fucking mongoloid.
A Clockwork Orange is by far more artistic, it totally invents it's own style to the point it sometimes feels as if the characters are speaking another language.
