>Dalton refused the role for years, citing that he was too young >Dalton is considered to be the closest to Ian Fleming's original description of Bond >Timothy Dalton is the perfect Bond, etc.
He's an alright looking guy for a squinty crocodile eyed thin haired Brit, but I'm underwhelmed by his acting. It's just flat.
I just don't buy him as James Bond. Am I a victim of hype?
he comes across as particularly stiff and shakespearean. he wouldve made a good villain
Benjamin Fisher
personally think he was given a poisoned chalice. Moore was perfect in his own way and the successor had a tough job. He didnt emit the same bravado that Lazenby could.
If those Dalton movies were made now they'd be held much higher imo. Craig ones are awful for most part.
John Gomez
He plays Bond more as a cold-blooded murderer instead of a wisecracking superhero. Depends what flavor of Bond you prefer I guess.
Did you read any of the Ian Fleming books? James Bond as a gentleman spy is entirely the result of how he was portrayed in the films by Connery and Moore, in the books he's a British Jason Bourne. He'll wear a tuxedo and apply some superficial charm to bed women, but ultimately he's a cold-blooded killer and brute in the service of the British crown. Dalton and Craig were the best at capturing the way Fleming intended the character to be, rather than a suave quip-machine using cartoon-esque gadgets to fight over-the-top villains.
>If those Dalton movies were made now they'd be held much higher imo.
true say. always felt like they were way ahead of their time. it's such a weird juxtaposition to have dalton's bond following the gay james bond of roger moore. the progression should have been more > brosnan > dalton but meh
Nathaniel Richardson
No offense my man but I am strictly speaking about the man's acting, which is stiff.
If Ian Fleming intended for the character to be a dull Bourne style robotic man thats great, keep reading the books, but filmwise Dalton is not great to watch.
David Garcia
I literally just sat down and watched Living Daylights and License to Kill. Both are underwhelming.
Julian Roberts
Reminder that back then Dalton was seen as a crude and violent James Bond. It was the gritty crime reboot. Essentially the same shit they did with Craig. It’s like it goes in waves of being comfy comedic to “no really Bond is srs”.
Juan Howard
He's probably the best actor to ever take the role, but his movies were hamstrung by the desire to be different from the campy Moore era, and ended up feeling joyless. Goldeneye had a much better balance of modern action and charismatic charm, which is the more legitimate reason why such a heavily padded movie is considered one of the best in the series.
Brayden Russell
As someone who is legitimately watching The Living Daylights at this very moment, unless you are looking dead on in the right lighting, Timothy Dalton is a very ugly man. Crooked teeth, sharp nose, noticeable balding crown.
I feel like I am watching his stunt double half the time so I pause to check, nope, thats actually him.
Dalton literally has the perfect looks for James Bond. Connery was balding, Moore looks like an American who grills on weekends, underrated Lazenby has the right look but was too squeaky clean, Craig is a meathead with weird ears like a squat Channing Tater. Dalton is debonair yet lupine, he looks cunning, almost aerodynamically so, he's brunette which allows him to blend in across the globe but has a spark in his eyes. His movies just needed slightly better direction and more memorable stunts. But no one will ever look like Bond more than he in the future films
Juan Martinez
Almost every other Bond actor is better suited for the role imo. Including Moore.
Josiah Allen
>Timothy Dalton is the perfect Bond He would have been if his successor wasn’t Pierce Brosnan. The only valid criticism you can aim towards his Bond films is.....the writing. As an actor he was perfect.
Any Lazenbychads in here? Literally perfect run, no bad movies. All the other ones had at least one bad movie, Moore and Craig even had two bad ones.
Cameron Parker
Connery will always be the best Bond because he could pull off every aspect of Bond convincingly. He could be charming, utterly cold blooded, humorous, or serious, as the scene called for. The other Bonds may have been better at a specific area of Bond's personality, but only Connery really portrayed the whole character in his films.
Michael Young
> George Lazenby has only watched his own James Bond movie and doesn't care who's next yeah he's based.
He’s actually been a villain in a lot of stuff and he’s usually fantastic. Rocketeer, Chuck, Hot Fuzz, and despite me hating End of Time he was good as Rassilon.
