I'd say in terms of his fighting ability he's incredibly overrated (still ahead of his time), while being just as much underrated for his fighting IQ, fitness training concepts and charisma.

Who cares if Cliff fought Bruce to a draw? It was meant to establish how badass Cliff was and is totally believable. I'd have been more skeptical if Cliff fought Jackie to a draw in this movie, and rightfully so IMHO.

He never had an official fight ever except some random chinks saying he won fights on the street in chink land. My theory is that Tarantino originally was going to have more stuff with Lee in the movie and the portrayal ws different but when he contacted the Lee estate about the movie and Lee they acted shitty towards him and Tarantino took a piss on Lee in the movie to annoy his daughter
