I know it's a comedy and I'm not supposed to take it seriously but...Major Nelson is a stupid piece of shit. Every episode he treats his perfect subservient Djinn GF like a nuisance. Jeanie's not from this era. She's more than 2k years old but she's constantly trying her absolute best to make Major Nelson happy. Instead of being kind to her he constantly tries to cheat on her and get her stop liking him. He's such a faggot about it.
Other than that I really like this show and think everyone should watch it.
You're basically right, but what he wants most is to be a successful astronaut. Jeanie just kinda gets in the way of that, unless she facilitates the whole thing and destroys Nelson's ability to feel accomplished.

I know how you feel dude. I grew up watching those re-runs when it was on regular tv. It was "I dream of Jeannie" and "Bewitched" back to back. I fell for Bewitched but got over her immediately, she was frigid. Jeannie became my waifu.

Bewitched was by far the better show; If Jeannie is your waifu you are spiritually unevolved. Darrin is repressive and neurotic, a product of his time, but he and Samantha both have a stake in their relationship and require something from each other. There is give and take and they seem to actually have an emotional bond. Jeannie is just robotically in love with major Nelson for no reason.
