I have a love/hate relationship with Jodorowsky. His movies sometimes feel like a parody of abstract art films (weird and cryptic acting and dialogue, psychedelic imagery, lots and lots of biblical references, expressionist dancing, dicks everywhere etc.), but I did enjoy Dance of Reality and Endless Poetry a lot. There is also a lot of well timed comedy in his films and Santa Sangre almost felt like a sleazy giallo. Maybe his movies shouldn't be taken so seriously
Holy Mountain is often read as a parody because of its ending
You seem angry
What’s a webm?
You can change yourself into gold
the only Jodo that does anything for me is Santa Sangre. everything else reeks of bullshit
That film is the summit of everything I hate about western Jews.
Satantango when?
>Satantango
>features a 20 minute tango scene
I don't get it
This, we only watch KINO
/film/s for these respective feels?
>finally I had realised
>drop tunings are for fags
it's comedic for sure, wouldn't call it parody though
Holy Mountain is a lens for Jodo's interpretation of reality more than anything. His interest in tarot and western esotericism is genuine, in fact watching videos he's done on tarot on Youtube puts a lot of insight into how he views symbols, mysticism, etc. He views them in a way similar to Jungian psychology more or less, archetypal elements of the human experience. On a basic level the plot of Holy Mountain is the journey from the Fool to the Sun, from ignorance to enlightenment
the different parts of the movie are about different parts of reality. the reality of religion and how it's used, the reality of western culture (and especially imperialism, its a constant them in his work), the reality of how aspects of society work (the industrialists), the reality of a spiritual journey and pursuit of truth, the reality of psychedelics, etc etc
he has a fairly mean and dark sense of humor, a huge ego, and likes to go for some shock value, which I think is what turns a lot of people off or makes them think his movies are just full of shit. But they are not as random or pointless as a lot of people make them out to be, and I think the reason critics like Ebert couldn't make sense of them comes from an unfamiliarity with the things Jodo is drawing from, namely western esotericism and South American anti-imperialism
if it wasn't for this shot it would be George Harrison in that part
The file size limit is small anyway and no audio. Not really much incentive
Spanish James Bond
I really love this movie.
Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter... and Spring
If you know any similar vibes pleaseeee share.
Jesus got his asshole washed in that.
It happens to the best of us
It was made by an edge lord and has nothing of value. Hipsters love it because it makes them feel elite, but if thats all you got in life, by all means
