is Supes only renowned for his iconic status? Being basically the original and a symbol for superheroes and household name.
He doesn't seem all that popular to people, clearly overshadowed by Bats and Spidey.
What do you want in a Superman film?

I already got Richard Donner's Superman and that cannot be topped. Just leave it alone
they should make a version where he is straight. Really mix it up.
Superman was a product of the times. Batman was at least updated to the modern broody superhero meta by Frank Miller and Alan Moore. Superman has stayed mostly the same since his inception and it seems like Yas Forums's favorite Superman stories are the really patriotic stories. Hollywood and China don't really like America so a new Superman movie will never do well because Superman is American through and through
Superman is the most popular hero of all time. There are so many iconic superman stories that could adapted. Obviously the dynamic between supes and Lex Luthor is great, but for future movies I'd like to finally get braniac or mongul as the villain.
His boyscout optimism and hopefullness and the way he never gives up and is willing to throw his life on the line in an instant to protect people is inspiring and could give people hope right now.
>Superman is the most popular hero of all time
even if that was still true, give it a few years. Iron man will be.
boomers will die or fade into their lives, and zoomers and millenials will keep on remembering Iron Man and the MCU.
>he never gives up and is willing to throw his life on the line in an instant to protect people is inspiring
And people tend to see that as boring when it's Supes. He's indestructible, so there are no stakes; it doesn't have as much meaning with him putting his life on the line.
I'm a millennial that grew up on the Superman movies. Maybe when Zoomers and Gen Alpha take over
He's relentlessly handsome.
It bothers me that Superman can't get a movie where he's an inspirational symbol of peace/hope but then there is an anime that plays Superman straight (not needing to corrupt or subvert) and it's pretty well received.
It depends on the writer. Someone with talent knows to make Superman stories about psychological/moral struggles, or screwball shenanigans with Lois Lane. Then you have retards like the makers of the animated series who just nerf Superman to make him easier to write
He’s not the protagonist of the anime though.
But he's well received and well liked. You'll never see people complain "All Might sucks because he's too strong or too kind/caring" The main character then worships the guy so you know he's not "edgy/dark/corruptible"
Then people can complain about Superman's powers but again there's an anime called Dragonball Z where the main character has the exact same powers as Superman and no one complains about it.
there's lots of people that can kill supes easily: doomsday, braniac, darkseid, etc.
not to mention he has a simple and well known weakness that anyone could exploit to make him killable
superman needs to smile
To think, even so, that user's point still stands.
I do wonder if that's part of it, seeing people like Midoriya look up and be inspired by All-Might. Midoriya himself will basically become that figure down the line, he's in his starting steps. the 2017 Justive League tried to do that, but it came across as unnatural after Bats v Supes. Feeling rushed, with Bats somehow wanting to live up to him. And people greiving Superman's loss, which is somewhat more convincing after the Trinity saved them from Doomsday and Superman sacrificing himself.
i want man of steel fight scenes. to this day they are the best fight scenes that portray just how strong a super human is compared to everything on earth
A thing that bothers me about Man of Steel was Superman listens to villains (Faora/Zod) spit on his ideals saying "People are going to die, the weak should die and strong survive" and he just makes an angry face and punches them with one line ever "You're a monster Zod, and I'm going to stop you"
Faora says "You are weak.... because you posses a sense of morality and we do not, gives us an evolutionary advantage". Superman should respond with something like "My morality doesn't make me weak because I have something worth fighting for"
Maybe at some point we'll get a movie where he can show his full power.
>Clark kent needs to be black
>lois lane stays white. make her thicc though
>lex is still a billionaire but also funds the republican party
fpbp
she is so hot
Superman Lives could have been iconic. Too bad it got canned.
What a bitch.
>How do you make Superman captivating?
Every effort begins and ends with John Williams theme.
Otherwise, Superman is done. He stands for accountability and responsibility, which is something today's modern hack writers can't grasp or write about. Even Spidey lost his "With great power comes great responsibility" because both Hollywood and zoomers can't grasp that concept.
All they get today is dramatic posing, snarky one-liners and sharing tacos with your buddies.
Cavill had Superman's powers, but not his spirit.
their armor design was so kino. honestly man of steel did a lot of things right
>What do you want in a Superman film?
Supes laser beaming Israelis to death.
Much much better than marvel fight scenes at depicting superhuman combat
