Honestly people say 2001 is the perfect film, THIS is the perfect film.

hooper

nah but close

in'im

Farewell and adieu, you fair Spanish ladies,
Farewell and adieu, you ladies of Spain,
For we received orders to head back to Boston,
And may nevermore see you ladies again...

Why didnt they bring actual guns?

These movies are nonsense. Sharks are gentle creatures merely trying to survive in nature. Imagine people being afraid to go into the ocean over a make believe movie.
You are perfectly safe swimming in the ocean my human friends.

The making of is great:

It really is a phenomenal movie. Sorcerer is also another truly perfect movie and coincidentally also starts Roy Scheider.

Quint has an M1 grand, the mayor was bitching about budget so much what were they gonna do? Rent an armory of dudes with M60s? It was supposed to just be a “fishing” trip but they were ill prepared I guess. Hooper was prepared with his poison stick, I bet he figured that would be their last resort weapon they couldn’t fuck up.

show me the way to go home

>get giant dead cow
>drag it onto the boat
>inject it full of barbiturates
>throw it off the back of the boat near jaws
>jaws eats it and drowns after falling asleep

Hooper! Quit playin with yerself!

i'm tired and i wanna go to bed

It's amazing how by 70s standards this was a brainless action movie. How we have fallen.

nearly, but not quite. the rubber shark scenes are cringe now.

Which movie would scare the fuck out of my six-year old daughter the most?
Yeah.

watched this for the first time last night and was surprised how much it was about coronavirus

>everything has to be ultra realistic to be good

Fucking zoomers

>drowns after falling asleep

Sharks cant stop moving or they die

which is why they do not sleep, or likely contain physiology that can be affected by nyquil

fuckhead.

Does she have tiktok?

inject it full of poison then

or hooper could use his shark dart and blow it up. It's easy to just kill a shark with no interest in studying or seeing it. The shark dart isn't used properly in the film, it would easily pierce the sharks skin and inject it with CO2, exploding it's internal organs.

Theres no co2 in the film. Cooper has a pointy stick with poison.

>The Farallon Shark Dart, seen above, which I always thought was a poison injector, is actually a CO2 powered gas injector, designed to inject gas explosively under the skin to rupture organs or cause a brain embolism without spreading blood in the water. The subcutaneous gas would also force the shark to float to surface, breaking off its attack. One eyewitness account said it was a gruesome death for the shark as the expanding gas would force the shark's internal organs and stomach out through its mouth whereupon it would bite down and sever its own entrials. The technology was originally developed by the US Navy for divers who were detailed to pick up the Apollo astronauts after splashdown in shark infested waters.

>tfw Sorcerer’s blu ray doesn’t have any documentary nor behind the scenes footage
Feels bad man, wish we could get a Criterion release.

>Hooper does tie the Neo Flasher SDU-5/E tracker seen at left to the first barrel, and it's never quite made clear if this is just a strobe or if it has some radio tracking capabilities, but we never see him using any kind of receiver to notify them where the shark is, in fact they spend much of the film looking for the shark and there are multiple times the shark sneaks up on them. The device does serve a useful cinematic purpose in giving the silent shark a tell-tale beep and strobe effect as the barrel is seen at night.

>When Hooper does offer to use poison to kill the shark, he uses a different device, a Farallon Shark Dart Repeater, in the shark cage. The Repeater is a longer metal pole that is powered by pumped compressed air. It is not a poison delivery device, so when Hooper charges it with poison, he is actually hacking or modding it, although it would seem like a plausible idea if the poison were mixed in with the compressed air.

>Quint, on the other hand, uses a Greener/Navy Arms harpoon gun powered by .38 cartridges to fire harpoons.

>come on down and chum some of this shit

Why is it such a good moment bros?
