i enjoyed it quite a bit
No clue. I liked it.
No you're right, it's average. The most remarkable thing about is the song "Don't You" which became a hit. Other Hughes films like Sixteen Candles, Planes Trains, Ferris Bueller and Christmas Vacation are all much better.
If you watch it when you are actually young and in high school it probably hits different. I saw it when I was 13 or 14 and it meant a lot to me at the time. I looked like Bender but acted like a Brian so I could relate to a lot. Also knew a lot of kooky girls like ally sheedy.
I'd put it over Sixteen Candles. The characters are far more memorable even if they are cliches. The principle is my favorite.
You should watch St. Elmo's Fire, which is like the Breakfast Club but for people in their 20s. Ally Sheedy plays the hot/popular girl in it, which is twist.
I dislike it because bender looks like a 36 year old alcoholic
both
It was so boring I couldn't even finish it
Ha ha. Why would you even expect this to be good? It's just some redditcore pleb "classic" not an actual film.
I just can't get over Molly fucking Ringwald as the "Popular Girl" while the weirdo dandruff girl is 100 times hotter. She was much better suited for Sixteen Candles. Also that movie has tits.
Why?
Yes because in reality it's utter unwatchable shit just like every other John Hughes film.
Tell me, what do you like about it? I just cant find it as something more than average. There are some good things but mostly average.
One thing I'm sure is that Allison is a qt3.142
This. I watched it when I was 12 or 13 and thought it was the most average movie possible. Watched it again with some college friends at 19 and we all really enjoyed it.
It's shit, it tried too hard to be profound
I hated it, only plebian, American normies enjoy this soulless trash.
I miss white America :(
theres not a single positive thing about 80s/90s/2000s teen movies except that it educates you on how toxic hollywood is
they brainwashed me into thinking I would be popular in high school and experience teenage love :(
it's fine. its a decent movie, but more of a period piece by now
It's not even average. It's not a very good movie and the characters are worryingly close to one dimensional.
it's probably the seinfeld effect
it's not average. it's dog shit like every movie with the "brat pack" actors. the least shit of the bunch is st elmos fire and THAT's average.
The weird girl is hotter than the redhead
Molly has big boobs tho
those are not "big" even by 80s standards.
I think it's a bit above average but not as amazing as people say it is. I also found Clueless underwhelming. I mean Alicia Silverstone is a 10/10 but the movie is just "things happen and here's some forced character development".
What would be on Yas Forums's top 10 GOAT teen movies. I bet Superbad is a shoe in and maybe even Mean Girls. Can't think of anything from the last decade though...
Dazed and Confused, Everybody Wants Some and Boyhood. Linklater movies are like what Hughes movies would be if they were good.
Ferris Bueller is up there. That cracked article on it may have screwed with my perspective, but it was a surprisingly introspective movie.
Oh Dazed and Confused definitely. Found Boyhood a bit too dull desu but can see why some people like it
