Are there any good ones besides I, Claudius, The Caesars and Rome?

Don't say Spartacus because that's low-IQ action trash. Don't say any of the old Hollywood movies either because they all suck.

>Spartacus... low-IQ action trash

based. I can't believe some anons think it's ok to post that they watch Starz shows lmao. It's like CW for adults.

>Don't say Spartacus because that's low-IQ action trash

I genuinely think Spartacus is the more intelligent show about ancient Rome. Yes, it starts out as low IQ schlock but then it ends up being more meaningful than the HBO show, which ends up being adventure of the week schlock but with high production values.

In Spartacus you had amazing meta themes like the actual audience being like those romans cheering for bloodshed, with decadent producers sitting in VIP booths thinking about fucking eachother in the ass. The characters and the actors were both enslaved for entertainment and the only way it could ever end was the death of Spartacus, which ironically happened in real life and the show. Gaunicus, one of the fan favourites, ended up embracing his role and went out with a bang while being cheered by us, the romans.

It's a really underrated show. The finale was one of the best ever made.

Spartacus

Spartacus actually ended up having a sould where Rome didn't.

I can't properly put it into words, but it was the show that stole the wife of Spartacus from him, dangling her around in his mind in order to keep killing for our pleasure. We went even further and killed his best friend, encouraging Spartacus to keep fighting and eventually starting a rebellion for the greater good against an amoral, hedonistic system that doesn't care about human suffering, against the gods themselves. He didn't have a chance for a happy ending because that would've meant the end of the show, so he kept suffering until he finally found his way out on the battlefield fighting for glory yet becoming something bigger. A rolemodel that stood up to tyranny and died for a bigger idea where life is more than exploitation and gory violence.

Spartacus is really a transcendental experience that has the potential to transform us, the roman lusting for blood and tits, into people who appreciate the sacrifice of Spartacus taking up our sins and giving us perspective. At the end one should moved on from the bloodshed, to better world without slavery.

No arguments. I didn't say the most historically accurate.

It's true though. Rome was trash.

Rome is the show that tries very hard to appear smart but is stupid.

Spartacus tries very hard to appear stupid but actually is smart while also having a soul.

Truth.

We get it, you're a moron. No need to labor the point.

Isn't this the same thread as the last few days? Also spartacus is the only answer,

What was so smart about Rome? It's a show about an idiot who is a pimp one week, a butch another, then a politician, and eventually Cesar's bodyguard who stumbles into the roman equivalent of the Kennedy assassination and does something else then. Meanwhile his retarded buddy ends up fucking Cleopatra for some stupid reason. It's a retarded show, but what makes it especially stupid is it pretending to be smart while doing retarded shit.

Also most of the characters are annoying with nagging wives and shit like that. At times Rome appeared like something taken out of Plebs.

He's talking about the series

That's not how the Romans were at all, dumbass. The gladiator fights rarely ended in death. They were entertainment sport for the plebs, similar to the UFC or boxing we have today.

What an absolute load of tripe. How the fuck does that make the series good, anyway?

Ask the creators of Rome.

I don't know why you hate Spartacus, the events from the story is quite accurate to history (except all those fag sex scenes, but who knows)

And what of good Solonius?
