Watched District 9 for the first time today...

Watched District 9 for the first time today. I guess I enjoyed it but I found the main character to be incredibly annoying, and some aspects seemed conveniently glossed over. That being said I enjoyed the alien designs, and feel like they've left good room to explore a sequel looking into the aliens culture, and the backstory of the ship.

What's glossed over?

Well I thought there would be more interaction with the police and the human gangs in D9 outside of when its convenient for the plot, also for the main guy and Chris to waltz up to the building and getting in seemed too easy, would have thought all security was on high alert inside and outside the building

>incredibly annoying
So you didn't enjoy his magnificent transition from being a bureaucratic, stuck-up prick, to becoming a fucking sympathetic LEGEND?!

It was alright, the transition to me went: Flight of the Concord bureaucrat -> bit whiny -> bit cunty -> then ah he found some balls

Isn’t this movie really about ethnic Africans?

All I remember from this movie is that fucked up scene where he's forced to use the aliens' weapons against them.

I hate found footage shit. It looks awful and fake as fuck. That said, the movie's ok but kinda boring. What I don't like is the creators' intent on the message they want to get across. Segregation is good and what idiots call xenophobia has evolved for a reason.

This movie was gory as shit.

We were supposed to get one but it just never happened.

i think i was 15 when i watched it in theatres and i cried at the end.

This is unironically my favourite movie of all time

>Wikus
>annoying

yikes hard pass

The cgi in this guy’s films is always outstanding

i thought i was the only one

I haven't watched it in years, but it was a damn good movie.

It's a shame Oats Studios pretty much died off, Blomkamp just doing an anthology of flashy tech demo short films was a good fit for him.

>FOOKIN PRRROOOOOHNS

I liked the movie but this. I saw what they were trying to say and just looked past it to still try and enjoy it.

Name 1 good Blomkamp movie
>you can't

The government was interested in the alien technology but couldn't be too open about it because it looks bad publicly. The gangs are a perfect excuse. They can retrieve aliens and weapons and sell it, eventually ending up to the government/corporations for studying. So the gangs are a necessary evil you can say. Why do you think criminal elements are never eliminated around the world in real life?

the movie is supposed to be commentary on how south africa handled the bantu refugee crisis in the 1980s

go on . . .

You can literally Google it. The title is a play on a real place in South Africa called District 6

Same

oh fuck off back to pol you boring bastard it's a movie about aliens

I thought it was about the apartheid. I.e: prawns are the "Africans", then actual Africans would be the "white power" of the apartheid

Copley is just a based guy
Great in all his roles, if you haven't seen Hardcore check it out just for Copley playing a dozen different characters

>south africa handled the bantu refugee crisis in the 1980s
There was no such thing.
