Rosie and Sophie Webster were both cast as kids though with some recasts, Rosie comes and goes a lot though. David and Sarah Platt too, David's had the same actor since he was little, he's in his 30s now.
Currently Amy is well in her teens now, she's fairly plain faced but you know, could be worse. Asha Alahan is about the same age, her actress is qt, at least I think so.

I think recasting him like they normally would do freely for kids was out of the question because unlike most soap kids his character had been given lots of screentime and storylines when he was young. If you recast like, Maria's kid or someone no one would notice, no one even recalls what he looks like cos he's not really a character.
