I haven't been scared of a horror movie since I was a toddler. I just feel like there is not a single movie that exists that will make me jump or be scared. i watched everything from Noroi the curse to lake mungo. Nothing.

Maybe something by Miike?
Chances are its on you. I would say no matter how many horror movies you watch you're always gonna get startled a little on high volume on jumpscares just because of the loud sound.
I would suggest watching some Gaspar Noé or David Lynch for more tension with uncertain payoff. That might break the rules your learned. Theres prob alot of arthouse surreal psychology heavy stuff that could work. Do not know of any examples tho
thanks ill check on that. Idk i guess its cause i dont believe anything can hurt me so i switch off. I'm weird that way like i'm freaked out by spiders and big dogs cause i know they can maul me or whatever but when i had to hike during the pitch black night during my conscription in the army or anything like that in a controlled environment im not scared at all
depends on what scared you in real lift. I had to deal with some haunting shit (and no I don't care if you believe me) so movies that get it closer to how it is in real life spook me.
you seen REC?
Yes and it was basically [screams in spanish] for one hour and a half
fuck you nigger REC is pure kino; the sequel's bad ass too.
yeah but in a good way
Didn’t say it was bad do! And yeah i prefered the sequel to the original. I liked the firefighters and swat characters in both those movies allot they (and especially the firefighters) really carried the drama and seemed genuin
Ye I think this user has it right. If you're perfectly capable of seperating every bit of stakes or danger when watching those movies its not gonna be scary at all since its all the same "somethings is jumping out" shit.
Dont really know how much that helps with deciding the movies you're gonna watch but you could take a look at:
A: Your personal fears
and B: The 3 definitions of fear by Stephen King.
I think you might want to look for films with terror. Its really tense, petrifying but without clear expanation. That should affect you too.
Inland Empire could work with that
I haven't been scared by a horror film since I was a kid. I think it's because I would watch them all the time. Horror Video games on the other hand scare the shit out of me
>how it is in real life
Would you mind elaborating?
The whole movie is worth it just for the guy falling down the stairwell. It's the best jumpscare I've ever seen, and frankly the only acceptable one I've ever seen.
>Horror Video games on the other hand scare the shit out of me
Ive seen a bunch of people say this but I dont play video games so I dont understand, can you explain what it is that makes them scarier?
I would guess because you cant afk close your eyes and be over with it, if theres dancer you actively have to run away or defend yourself
I guess because it’s more interactive, like you make the choices so it connects to you more
read House of Leaves
I cant stand Japanese horror everything in their movies is either a ghost or a demon and I dont find any of it scary
kino moment
that was such a good jumpscare that it never even dawned on me that it WAS a jumpscare.
but it definitely fits the definition.
loud noises, unexpectedly out of nowhere
i really wish i could play some horror games. i have a feeling they would spook the shit out of me. i just need a better computer first.
Only jumpscares can scare you
>tfw i shid in my pants
>bongcheon-dong ghost
im gonna read it now just because of the name
after you done give us your thoughts
ahhhhhhhhhhhhh
it was pretty cool.
very quick read.
i muted the tab at first because i knew there was gonna be something.
but then i decided to unmute it and it fucking got me good
One day you will realise that "horror" is just a marketing label and horror films are no different from other films. This will hopefully help you appreciate horror films for their filmic merits and storytelling.
you are detached from the characters
you will never ever fear because you can identify with the characters
no movie on earth would scare you.
>if theres no jumpscares, its not scary
it was a shock of something unexpected, fucking based, I didn't felt fear in almost 12 years and this one was pretty close, thanks user
>>if theres no jumpscares, its not scary
