Now that it's no longer current, and we've all had time to consider, was it really necessary for 300 to be so racist...

I don't think you know what fascism is...

The bad guys are brown and the good guys are white so it’s racist.

You know how sometimes the things you say say more about you than you probably want them to? This article reads like that. Like the author looks at these characters (even the animals), and sees filthy, disgusting things that are easy to hate. So everyone else must too.

That's the purpose of euphemisms, you know. You don't use a euphemism for something that doesn't disgust you. You use it for things that do. Shit becomes poop becomes discharge.
You may notice, it's always a certain demographic using euphemisms for... "people of colour"... the colour of excrement.

>300 is based on the greek myth not a darkhorse graphic novel of the same name so I will bitch about how they depicted stuff.
Why do pseuds do this?

Racism is logical and ethical

So they can impress people with their reddit trivia knowledge

Wow I can’t believe Persians really didn’t have an army of fucking monsters and Spartans were half naked. My mind is blown that this very obviously stylized depiction isn’t accurate

Except it ISN'T reality, it's a racist caricature. The intentionally darkened "villain" characters.

except when its directed at white people though right?

Yes, actually, when you combine it with intentionally racial insensitive and provocative imagery.
