They will make connections in their communities that will take them further than any amount of work or any degree would. I'm not other user but I feel like his point was like, if you're going to have kids why wouldn't you make as much an effort as possible to ensure that they live a comfortable life? Of course wealth and status can turn people into selfish cunts, but that could be prevented by decent parenting. Personally I feel uncomfortable with the idea of having children because I don't want to bring another living breathing human being into a world full of stresses and looming threats like war or disease etc. If I knew for a certainty that my kid wouldn't undergo any significant harm I'd have kids without thinking twice. NOT doing as much as you possibly can to make their life easier increases the chance that they'll be subjected to pain and hurt that, yes, millions of other people experience daily, but which are still nonetheless extremely undesirable to undergo
