Might have been salary demands? Blunt was coming off of lead roles in some pretty popular movies (Edge of Tomorrow, Sicario) and it's no secret that Marvel already has to spend an insane amount on actor/actress salaries, paying RDJ/Scarjo alone costs more than your average movie's entire budget.

It's weird. Marvel's casting has been kinda on point, I'm a bit iffy on Cumberbatch, but they really shit the bed with Larson. Blunt would have been perfect, and many others would have been better than Larson.
